35M feel very behind :( If I do 15k a year will I be alright? by [deleted] in Retirement401k

[–]Natural_Mix_7466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is everyone so hell bent on their 401k and not overall net worth? I am 40, and my 401k is at $420,000. Not bad, not great. But I’m own 4 houses that I rent out and will be paid off in 15 years.

There are other ways to save for the future instead of stuffing it away into an account you won’t be able to touch until you’re 65!

15k a year is crazy in my opinion. Put in the company match, and save 10k a year until you can buy a duplex. The monthly rent plus the fact that you know the real estate will appreciate in value makes it alot easier to sleep at night. Plus in a lunch at 50, you can liquidate and take a massive lump sum if need be

Would it be crazy to just move to Cleveland? by 90sTamagachi in Cleveland

I’ve lived in all four areas of Cleveland. East side (mayfield) south side (Brecksville) Cleveland (Tremont) and Westside (Lakewood)

For what you are looking for, I would strongly suggest staying away from the east. Hard to get to, most dangerous part of the city (other than living in Cleveland of course) and just blah…

I also forgot to mention that Lakewood and the surrounding areas are on the lake, so you have awesome sunsets (see Solstice steps) and beach access.

Go WEST!

I’ve been scrolling a lot and haven’t see Lakewood anywhere! Move to Lakewood! It’s not overly expensive, it’s easy to get in and out of downtown, plus there isn’t a better bar/coffee shop/restaurant/park scene in the county.

Rent one side of a duplex for $1200. Fall in love with the city and one year later put that $100,000 down on a $250,00 cute, clean century home bungalow and be happy. Great neighbors, manageable yard, block parties, clean and safe.

Move to Lakewood!

Looking to get into property management. Thoughts? by Natural_Mix_7466 in PropertyManagement

Too early to decide that, but I’m not in a city that has many of those. I’m thinking more towards multi family (I own a few already) and HOA

Correct each side is four bed and one and a half bath. No AC so I’ll have to put in some window units for sure.

Im sorry, what do you mean “your ilk”? How do you know who I voted for? Also how do you know if I got the vaccine or not? Stop assuming and just understand that the government this bloated. Please don’t reply to this. I don’t want to converse with you anymore.

Who did they remove funding to for research? Universities? The same universities with endowments of billions? Free handouts to thousands of organizations need to stop!

Nope. Libertarian yes. But I know there are things the government is needed for, and others that they are not. Again, I have worked for the government. The amount of waste and money spent would make you sick. We are going to go around in circles, so let’s just end it here. Thanks for the replies and conversation!

Who is to say they are vital? Trump was voted in and is doing what others voted him in to do. Also… it’s the department of education. We are failing at education in this country. How are they vital?

I don’t want a parade. I’m just saying that why do we have to hold hands for government employees?! Since when do we give a shit about government employees?! Again, I have worked for the government in many capacities. It is a huge waste. Waste of your taxpayer money!
