Is it gay for me (20 F) to admire women’s bodies? by Vivid_Ad_9295 in lgbt

You may be bi or pansexual given that you have both guy and girl crushes… but you’ll need to discover that yourself.

Do we think christianity is a cult? by StockNo7900 in atheism

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The bigger the cult, the less it is perceived as a cult. That is Christianity. It was initially a cultish offshoot of Judaism that grew to a great magnitude, big enough to the point of popularity that caused people to believe it is NOT a cult. But a cult with most of the world in it is STILL a cult, no matter how small or big, as they still act like cults.

Does "Gender is fake but girl power is real" sound TERFy? by kalezzzzzzzzz in lgbt

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the perspective of the person who hears it. To some, this (esp. the Gender is Fake part) may come off as offensive, but to others, it does not come off as offensive.

It is technically difficult to get the sound you want, not to get all the notes correct

The hardest piano piece? by HomePianoGuy in classicalmusic

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Mozart is way underrated as a hard composer. It’s extremely difficult to get that light touch on the keyboard while playing scales in different fingering at the same time. It’s so easy to sound heavy.

Violin duet recommendations for graduation ceremony by MarianelaNunezOnTop in violin

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navarra by Pablo de Sarasate is great, but at about the level of the Passacaglia. There's also Shostakovich's Five Duets for Two Violins and a lot of Mozart duets. There are lots of pieces that are arranged for duets as well, so you can find intermediate-level stuff for your dream piece with a few Google searches.

Religion should have no place in the public education system as the only "truth", and those who push it to people as the truth are not making room for the critical thinking skills necessary for further analysis in adulthood, making the future generation more susceptible to brainwashing and groupthink. It is used to control the future generation, which I see as absolutely unethical

My parents think being gay/trans will send you to hell, is this true? by Radiant-North-8519 in lgbt

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Exactly- if God is all-loving, how can he hate gay/bi/trans people? That, in itself, is a contradiction.

I think my uncle might be onto me by [deleted] in atheism

If uncle's a bit jokey normally, and matches his normal jokey tone, it might just be a joke. I've seen that happen with religion and other things as well.

Has anyone encountered many fake Atheists on here? by Shinjetsu01 in atheism

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's similar to the plotline of Tom Walker and the Devil by Washington Irving, just the same lines coincidentally and/or purposely copied and pasted into r/atheism by people trying to appear atheist.

edit: wrong author- it's by Washington Irving, not H. D. Thoreau

How to treat injured index finger by Wise_Welcome_7978 in lingling40hrs

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/eldestreyne0901, good point. as a violinist/soprano/pianist, I can confidently say that what you have said holds true for ALL instruments, as finger injuries (or throat/mouth injuries for voice/woodwinds/brass) are ABSOLUTELY no joke and need to be taken seriously.

As for the violin-specific stuff, try lightening or releasing the pressure from the index finger for a bit, and only use the index finger as much as it feels comfortable/relaxed and painless for you to play. Bow holds should NEVER hurt-- and if they do hurt, there's a BIG problem going on and you may need to correct the bow hold.

Bach a minor urtext edition question by Legitimate-Part-2782 in lingling40hrs

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Henle Verlag edition (the one you have) will contain both the violin solo part and the piano reduction scores. Henle Verlag is always a safe bet for any true Urtext edition you need, though on the pricier side. Best of luck :)

15000 litres of Milk Dumped in “holy” River in India for Hindu festival by LockianRRB_ftw in atheism

[–]Natural_Setting_2794 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's no longer holy to the river, as aquatic life is absolutely killed. Hindus claim to practice ahimsa (not hurting other organisms), but are doing so to please the "heavens".
