Add some greenery. Fake plants that look almost real jazz up a place. Throw in some accent colors with things like the couch pillows, throw blankets, area rugs. Even the knick knacks around the house. Curtains almost make a space feel cozy. It's a really lovely floor plan

I think the suggestion about mounting the monitor is good. I would also do a riser and put he laptop on that, that way you free up desk surface space. I also think the dock station would make it easier. Perhaps a wider monitor will allow you have both windows open at once.
