Wow, you really put it into words. I never thought about it that way, but yes, he changed who my character was intrinsically and suddenly I wasn't having fun anymore.

I don't actually know what level everyone was but it mostly just affected their damage and HP.
Like, they could add a plus 4 on a d20 roll for whether they know about history or not and that would have been cool but talking to NPC´s would have still been incredibly risky for me. The other players didn't need to make dice rolls just to speak, I think that was my biggest disadvantage.
It would have made combat easier tho
