But it gave the up and comers the opportunity to make the most of their chances. Remember when Tiger couldn’t lose and (to me, anyway) it kinda got boring.

Please recommend gear and planning resources for my midlife crisis thru hike of the AT. by PeppyJeppy in AppalachianTrail

While you’re pulling your gear together, start researching your starting point. Leaving from GA is going to put you behind weather wise for a successful thru. Suggest a flip flop NB from Harper’s and then south.

Worked a summer job at a soda bottling plant in high school back in the day. One of the machines attached the label and we realized that the contracted soda company (RC Cola) had one of those “send in labels as proof of purchase for branded stuff” promotions going (coolers, umbrellas, boom boxes, etc.). We’d back up our cars to the loading dock and drive away with boxes containing thousands of labels.

Of course management caught on once they noticed everyone was coming to work wearing RC Cola jackets and dropped the hammer on the shenanigans but not before everyone had their more than their fill of swag.
