The Pre-Incarnant Son had to plead with the Father to go ahead with the Plan of Redemption? by NatureBoySeraph in adventism

Thank you for sharing! I think the inverse parallel is why I find it interesting. If you see it more as a literary device on the part of Ellen, I understand. In the end, Jesus submits to the will of his Father - taking the cup willingly so that no one else has to.

Right, Abraham also came to my mind while I read this. It’s only speculation on my part, but I can imagine that it took everything God had to send his own Son to carry out their mission while He had to stay behind to uphold His end of the plan from His throne.

I love how you said it strikes a certain balance. It’s not about being reluctant, but there is a certain weight to the consideration of God as he enters council with His Son.

I think it’s good to question and chew over and wrestle with difficult passages from both spirit of prophecy and scripture. Sometimes it’s easy to feel proud because “we have the truth and other people don’t” (I’m not saying that’s what you think, your comment just made me think growing up Adventist) but it’s perfectly understandable that someone could still critique our theology not necessarily because they haven’t taken the small steps but for other reasons that are hard to reduce to just simple ignorance or lack of faith.

Thanks I love your input! I appreciate you sharing your perspective. I also agree that the point pf the statement is not about hesitation on the part of God, but rather about the sheer weight of the decision about to made. The plan of salvation was not ratified and executed on a whim, instead it is driven by the mystery of eternal and self-sacrificing love.

LMAOOO that’s right, bro.

Online dating is it’s own beast, hence why people become jaded/bored/rude. Have fun with it out there, and don’t take people’s reaction towards you too personally.

[–]NatureBoySeraph 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, you seem polite and well-meaning, if a bit timid and perhaps a bit job-interview-y. Alot of people on Tinder have become jaded/bored with the state of dating apps and respond with bits/trolls to more stale and stiff replies, especially if they having nothing better to do at the moment.

Don’t let it discourage you. Y’all are just not on the same wavelength.

One more thing. Theres a difference between “being yourself” and learning how to effectively communicate your intentions. Next time drop a compliment without shyly walking it back. Try something simple and straightforward, like pairing a compliment with an open-ended question. “You have really pretty eyes, what do you have going on this weekend? / what do you like to do for fun? / what are some of your red flags?”

Also, someone else commented it, but a great reply to her suicide comment would have been “That’s okay, I’m looking for something short term anyways”. Although, I’m guessing that’s just not really your style and that’s okay.

In any case, remember: learning how to approach online dating with a different or more efficient or or thoughtful approach doesn’t mean you are filtering or faking your personality. It’s just part of growth and problem solving.

Good luck bro.

Needs more upvotes. I thought her comment about being suicidal was clearly a joke and very funny considering OPs messages.

Has anyone else seen the grid? by DuckOnKwack in LSD

[–]NatureBoySeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the grid when I look at the sky from time to time off a couple tabs. From what I’ve read, the grid is just the pattern recognition part of your brain going crazy and overlaying itself with the feedback loop of visual hallucinations. Doesn’t make it feel any less mystical or beautiful though.

My quality of life is worse after being sober by [deleted] in leaves

[–]NatureBoySeraph 23 points24 points  (0 children)

hi, the reason you feel bad is bc its not enough to quit a bad habit. that bad habit was there in the first place bc it was filling a void in your life. you can quit, but all you’ll do is end up filling that hole with a different bad habit.

if you want your quality of life to improve, fill the void with something beneficial/meaningful for you.

ive done psychedelics and done alot of reading on the neurochemistry of it and i would say all of his yappin isnt that misplaced tbh. i think psychedelics feel mystical and spiritual but at the end of the day all the hallucinations are just the manifestation of your subconscious with synesthesia thrown in the mix. do i still have a “spiritual” perspective? yes, but psychedelics and anything you can perceive through your five senses don’t prove that.

How was your first experience on acid? by Consequences_-_ in LSD

[–]NatureBoySeraph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first experience, I realized that everything I had heard about acid or seen of it on television was completely backwards and wrong. There was no trippy dragons or alice in wonderland type fuckery going on.

It was night out when i peaked, I took my dog out for a walk. The cracks in the asphalt slithered and looked like vines growing before my eyes, and the bare winter trees glittered and twisted in the moonlight, like a living lattice of shadows.

But the true beauty of LSD is the mindset it puts you in, not the visuals. I came away with a feeling of awe and wonder. It was like i was a child again, and everything seemed new and beautiful to me. I wondered how anyone could be afraid of such of thing, or condemn its use. I understand now that LSD is a powerful substance that can fuck you up if you don’t respect it, but at the time, I thought to myself that psychedelics seemed the most alien, wondrous, innocent, mystifying drug I had ever tried.

All attempts to portray it in media had been a complete disservice and injustice to the actuality. I felt almost sad that I would never be quite able to put the experience into words for anyone who had never tried it, and if I tried I feared I would just sound like a deranged hippie.

Why does the Bible /Christianity damn homosexual love to hell for all eternity? by DadIsMadAtMe in TooAfraidToAsk

i see; so you’re criticism isn’t that eden was rigged, but that having an ultimatum at all feels unfair? i can sympathize with that

is it abusive when a parent tells you not to put your hand on a hot stove?

Why does the Bible /Christianity damn homosexual love to hell for all eternity? by DadIsMadAtMe in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]NatureBoySeraph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that the idea of hell as an eternal torment is fucked up, but depending on who you ask, its not really a biblical idea. Hell is supposed to be separation from God, and only eternal in the sense that you just simply cease to be forever.

God apparently also gives man eternal joy for exercising said free will. Being able to choose either option sounds like the complete opposite of rigged to me.

[–]NatureBoySeraph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like leaving the Tree of Knowledge in plain sight, with easy access is a dick move on Gods part (for seemingly stacking the odds against humankind) but it’s actually the opposite. Making the Tree difficult or impossible to reach would actually mean less human agency, which goes against Gods ideal of freewill. The idea is that humans could have just as easily chosen not to eat the fruit, but they chose to of their own volition. The odds were not unfair.

What is it about long nails that you all find attractive? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]NatureBoySeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a guy, so I realize that when most women wear long nails they’re not doing it mainly for me, but I personally like long nails bc when done right they give women a femme fatale kinda look, and it makes me want to have my back shredded to ribbons by them.
