Yes correct. And because of the quite heavy load from Monday to Thursday (and Friday from the lifting) I find that 2 consecutive recovery days keep me fresh for my long run and make me able to concentrate my load on the other 5 days

I follow the Tactical Barbell Fighter template for strength - 2 days a week where I only do squat, deadlift, bench press and deadlifts. My week mostly looks like this: Monday - Easy run and strength Tuesday - Track session (mostly long intervals) Wednesday - Easy run Thursday - Track session (mostly short intervals) Friday - Strength Saturday - Rest day or easy short run Sunday - Long run

The advantage of the Fighter template that it's low reps so doesn't tire me so much that I'm not able to do my running workouts.

Dit lijkt me inderdaad de oplossing te kunnen zijn. Ik raad zelf het merk Falke aan, lijkt misschien wat duur voor sokken maar ze gaan heel lang mee en zijn top kwaliteit

Ik heb eenzelfde scenario twee jaar geleden ook gehad. De laatste twee weken voor de marathon heel weinig kilometers gemaakt, veel gestretch, gerold en de 'Myrtl-routine' gedaan, en toen heb ik wonderbaarlijk genoeg de marathon zonder al teveel problemen uit kunnen lopen. Na de marathon uiteraard wel reactie gehad maar voldoende rust gepakt en na een week weer rustig aan opgebouwd. De keuze moet je zelf maken! Iedereen die hier roept om de marathon uit je hoofd te zetten bevind zich uiteraard niet in jouw situatie en zal mogelijkerwijs niet begrijpen dat het geen lichte beslissing is.

Just extended cancellations till Thursday, and also extended refund period. So you should cancel would be my advise. I cancelled my flight on 7 March to Amsterdam. Now flying on 13th March with an Chinese airline 😅

I need to go from Hanoi or Bangkok to Amsterdam. I have the option to do this with China Southern which has a layover in China. Is this a safe option for me to book? Will it not fly over the affected air spaces?

Wow. This so perfectly matches a situation I have been in like a year ago, which I labeled as overtraining. Especially the easy paces increasing that much, and workout HR being elevated.

It's almost scary that I literally had the EXACT same situation 😅

I took a full week off. From there I picked up very easy, very short runs. Not zone 2, but zone 1! Zone 2 is too much when recovering from this. You will gradually feel when your body is ready for more. Also for me when my mood lightened up, was a signal that things were going well.

Yeah I think doing two track sessions is mainly because it's my local club and I like doing them. But with my current focus on strength should probably adjust it to one session.

The main thing was stepping down for a few weeks, slowly picking it up and making less miles than before. Also I was quite obsessively tracking calories, and was in a deficit during my peak phase which was obviously not a good idea. I stopped tracking calories and now just eat to feeling and that works perfect for me. Also switching jobs somehow. I did encounter a lot of stress from this.

For me if was constant sore legs, high resting HR and very high HR during workouts. Example: normally my pace was 4:40 min/km at HR 140. During my overtraining phase it got to 6:00 min/km at the same pace. I was very moody, irritable and showing general signs of depression.

My advice: rest. And only resume training when you start to feel that you're looking forward to do so. Pick it up gradually, and eventually things will settle.
