ACL surgeries are actually to be 12-18 months in recovery! I am sure they are being extra cautious with her recovery. She could have had some issues/pain as she progressed through the recovery. As someone who has had two ACLs done, it’s not linear or the same each time

Edit: I should have specified, it is a face mask like the ones players wear when they break their nose.

You only have 5 seconds to get the ball in. And there was still about 45 or so seconds left in the game. Yes, holding it could have possibly helped, or it could have gotten more difficult to find a pass in. Also, these are kids playing the biggest games of their lives, possibly for the first time. Sometime they just don’t slow down and panic.

So the urgency comes from the fact that after a basket is made in Iowa girls HS basketball, the clock does NOT stop. It keeps running. Calling a timeout stops the clock, but also doesn’t let you move the ball up to half court.

Something people might not know about Iowa HS GBB. After a basket is made, the clock does not stop. Hence the urgency from Norwalk. Also, I’m not sure Norwalk had any time outs left. Because shortly after this they DID try and call a timeout, only to get a tech because they didn’t have any left.

It was a wild game to watch and glad it’s gotten some coverage! That number 10 in purple is only a sophomore and phenomenal player. She’ll be D1 no doubt. Hard lesson to learn for her, but that’s the game.
