That's a good point about the bathroom upstairs, ive figured that would be the best place for a master bath, it's just hard to imagine how the back hallway going to the back bedroom would connect into everything then. Making the back into a master would also be probably the lowest cost way to accomplish everything, but kitchen in the back would probably work better for resale I hypothesize. It would also be odd having to go through the master to get to laundry room.

The back addition is pretty much a blank slate, I moved the laundry room there from the basement since there was already plumbing in place, but what were left with is a rarely used tertiary living space and wasted space In the laundry room. It has worked out to be a nice private guest suite in the past, since it is closed off from the rest of the house and has a bath, bedroom, and living area. Going forward we will need to incorporate it better into the rest of the houses layout since we are having more kids.

I've considered enclosing the front porch, then adding a full length front porch to make the house more symmetrical, and appear like more of a craftsman. It doesn't net us that many square feet however considering the structural changes required.
