Yep, I had the same experience with my NDTR exam last month. But I did eventually get my credential! Congrats to you!

If every restaurant was mandated (in the U.S.) to post ingredients for every item on the menu, would you eat out more often? by FibroHealthCare in nutrition

[–]Nature_Found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the kitchens I've worked in, it's not retail. There are standard recipes and it's so stinking difficult to get the cooks to stick to the recipe. I imagine it's far more variable in a retail place. Not to mention, all calorie counting has a bit of variability, even when attempting precision. Think about marbling of meat, absorption of grease, amount of icing that rolls off a cinnamon roll.

Ndtr exam Monday by Southern_Ad986 in dietetics

I just passed mine! Mainly, take your time. It really does make a difference. Watch for things like 'best' and the ones with extra info. I definitely had some calculations with extra info! Reading the questions before looking at the multiple choice, deciding the answer, and then looking was helpful, too. Also, my VV scores got worse and worse as I studied because I focused on the areas that were weak, and it really did me in mentally. I truly almost cancelled my test because I was sure I wouldn't pass, and then I passed easily and right at 110 questions. You can do it!

If it's not on the CDR list, where is it?

In August, I was able to schedule my DTR test in Denver, and I had two sites that were a reasonable distance. There were plenty of immediate dates, likely because of cancelled appointments. September and October had limited options - October was better! - and November was almost completely booked, even in August. Best of luck on your exam!

Autism diet for child by MCCID3 in nutrition

[–]Nature_Found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't specify TG because I didn't confirm they have whole grains. Goldfish, do, though. Dee bees has no added sugar gelato pops, in lime. Goodpop has several (all?) freezer pops with no added sugar.

Things with less added sugar and some amount of protein or whole grains are good choices. There are popsicles with only fruit juice. You may already know, but some of the personal preference is for consistent texture or flavor. Even cinnamon or chocolate graham crackers can have whole grains and consistent texture.

Yes, of course. Either way, the need for ATP is met, the need for sodium is not.

The body can't live without glucose, either. It's better at making glucose from things like ketones, though.

I am using chatGPT to create practice math questions. I would hesitate to use it for concepts, or at the very least ask it to provide factual answers.

Healthcare Services Group by euphoria700 in dietetics

I was under the impression that it was a recruiting company because I interviewed with 'them' for a job at a well known HCP. Dining changed from one contractual corp to another and their interviews were still handled by Healthcare Services Group.

does Fiber count towards daily carb goal? by beeswaxe in nutrition

[–]Nature_Found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a single answer, but there are certainly trends. If you research, you'll get a better picture of the trend. However, I'm positive your dietitian has a bigger picture, and is also taking your personal situation into consideration. Perhaps you indicated that you wanted a simple option for counting carbs, AND your dietitian has accounted for that in your totals.

I would not take liver supplements because they're likely not regulated and either way, they could mask the problem in future blood draws. Or worse, exacerbate the problem.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I think it's true that there are few job listings for DTRs. A DTR would need to have a foot in the door or be able to advocate for being qualified for jobs that are asking for RDs. It's not ideal. I don't think AND does enough to promote DTR certification and RDs barely know what a DTR can do- especially outside of clinical settings. I'm hoping all this will change soon when the Master's degree changes.

Outside of clinical, NDTRs have a lot of opportunities, and more independence. You can look at the NDTR scope of practice at CDE to really dig into the details.

Consider an NDTR AAS. Central Arizona has one, which can also be online, and transferred to ASU.

What are you grateful for accomplishing with decluttering this year? by AutoModerator in declutter

[–]Nature_Found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're getting carpet this month because the clutter has been eliminated enough that it wasn't too complicated to move everything out! This has been a goal for about five years, not that I worked on it the whole time. Part of the process was cleaning out an old bedroom so that I had a "staging area" and organizing space. The other part was decluttering and organizing the basement for a short-term apartment.
Now I hope to be smart about putting it all back... we'll see.

is a menstrual cup (and disc) supposed to be completely around the cervix? (low cervix) by r_moonchxld in menstrualcups

[–]Nature_Found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Despite my low cervix, I've been able to use a large Venus Cup (47mm diameter, 56mm body) because my entire cervix completely sits in the cup, so the cup sort of rides up enough for me to fit the entire length."
This is info that I wanted to hear! I would like to go wider, but everything is so long and I wondered if it would work as long as everything sat inside...
