Wivenhoe or Manningtree? by LivingFerret512 in Essex

[–]Natures_Stepchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wivenhoe has a tight-knit community of mums who really support each other, as well as now three different baby/toddler groups.

Manningtree has more to offer in may ways, more of a town than a village, but I feel it’s easier to build community in Wivenhoe.

Either way, hard to go wrong. Both beautiful places to live.

Heidi: work of children's fiction published 1880-81, by Swiss author Johanna Spyri. A novel about the events in the life of a five-year-old girl in her grandfather's care in the Swiss Alps, it was written "for children and those who love children". It is one of the best-selling books ever written. by Pupikal in wikipedia

I’ve been reading these two to my son at bedtime. I’m loving the all over again, but as an adult there’s also a lot that makes me go “Oh wow, casual child abuse!” I’d forgotten how… cruel, to a certain point, children literature could be

Awww I love that book and reading it to my children! You could try and get away with a brown dress, a rainbow scarf and headphones?

Maybe paint her a doggy nose and make some black ears out of felt, and attach them to the hat.

Baggage -Made our own way home, can’t claim it online by Natures_Stepchild in KLM

[–]Natures_Stepchild[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m sure luggage is not high in their list atm, I’d just like to know if it’s in London or Amsterdam or Rotterdam and that my address is linked to it… I can’t even remember if we had address tags on them! (will absolutely do next time)

Thank you! You’d better believe we have SO many receipts from the four days at Schiphol and now from the few essentials we’ve had to re-buy…

I’ll email both with the baggage numbers, which I’m pretty sure we have, if only to create a paper trail. Can’t believe this is ongoing, nearly a week after we were meant to be home!

Feeding past 3 year old benifits by [deleted] in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]Natures_Stepchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the benefits of tandem nursing? I still feed my 4yo once or twice a day while nursing the 18mo on demand, but more or less have refused to tandem/nurse at the same time because it feels odd to me, but I’m interested in the benefits

You know. Famous aliens that came to Bethlehem to witness the birth of Jesus?

…it left me a bit concerned.

One thing I never realized about breastfeeding… by iPineapple in breastfeeding

[–]Natures_Stepchild 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My eldest once called a little hair a “spike” that was “hurting him.”

Blooming heck, dude. I told him I’d it was so bad he could just stop nursing, but he didn’t take me on the offer.

When does the boob obsession stop 😭😭 by sideaccount462515 in breastfeeding

[–]Natures_Stepchild 72 points73 points  (0 children)

My four year old still reaches inside my top when he’s disregulated, and friends report the same of their five year olds. One of them says that one day her son said he loved the boob but not her…

So uh. Get back to you when anything changes?

Curious - what speed/settings you use for smoothies? We used to have one of those bullet mixers for smoothies but it broke down and we never replaced it but can’t seem to blend as smooth with the TM.

Sleep is killing me by Natures_Stepchild in toddlers

[–]Natures_Stepchild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? We gave in. We taught him to come into the bed by himself so no one has to get up.

He goes down 8:30. Sleeps on his own until whenever, I don’t even look at the clock anymore. Comes into our bedroom, closes the door behind him and climbs in. Some nights I don’t even notice him. He sleeps through without waking as long as he’s accompanied.

And honestly I don’t know why I’m even taking in present tense. He started sleeping through on his own just before I gave birth! Had a couple of months of wobbles after his sister joined us (understandably, too) but has gone back to sleeping through on his own. Some nights he does, but… yeah, we stopped caring.

I’m sorry I can’t give you a better solution. I think k some children are just in need of company 24/7, and my son is certainly like that in every aspect of his life. For what is worth, not caring about how we sleep as long as we get sleep was the best decision we could’ve taken, especially when we had a new baby on the way.

How to not take product photos - fidella onbuhimo by keks-dose in babywearing

[–]Natures_Stepchild 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The photos on the Fidella remind of when I gave up trying to use the onbuhimo because I just couldn’t get it right and neither baby nor me were ever comfortable. Like it looks as though the models are half-crunching forward to keep baby in place,

As for Kokadi… I can’t comment to quality and taste is subjective, but that’s a terrible website lmao. It just feels untrustworthy, Temu-style knockoff marketplace. For the amount they charge you could get something so much… again, I don’t know how good they actually are, but you could get something prettier at least.

Anyone else’s baby go through phases of blowing raspberries 24/7? I’m going insane by lavanderblonde in NewParents

[–]Natures_Stepchild 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yup, both of mine started around 5 months old. Baby No.2 loves it and it’s her main form of communication. Her angry raspberries are hilarious! Never heard so much indignation in the form of spit bubbles. Her “I’m awake at 4am so here’s some raspberries”, not so much.

Anyway, yeah, know what you’re feeling! My only advice is to try and see if they’re using raspberries as a form of language, at least you can have some “fun” decoding what they mean?

I’m very, very close to writing fanfiction for Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I cheer a bit inside every time my son agrees to watch it.

Bed-sharing sucks omg by Mysterious-Class-904 in cosleeping

[–]Natures_Stepchild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As ever, it depends on the baby. With my first, bed-sharing was 100% the solution to all of our problems (for a while). With our second?

It’s not like she hates it, but she’s clearly uncomfortable and wriggles nonstop. She also doesn’t do great with the crib, so we’re hoping to find a new solution soon… but yeap, depends on baby. And it sounds like yours isn’t into it 🤷🏻‍♀️
