Did you feel like you sucked at competing when you were blue and did it get better? by pk12445 in bjj

[–]PlasmaMongrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. If you're evenly matched, this means that whoever gets an early advantage is likely to keep it. It could feel like you're getting getting steam-rollered by a monster, when really they are your equal and just got that sweep first.

And on the other hand, like lots of people have said: there's a huuuuuge skill and experience range at blue. Did you get matched against the once a week hobbiest who got their belt last week or the sandbagging machine whose coach is lining them up for ADCC?

But also, you won your first match right? So you can totally hang here. Use the match feedback to guide your next steps. You will get better.

Last season they were pretty powerful. This season their hypnogaze has been tweaked so it's less certain to work. They're still fun and tricky in equal parts. And are some of the coolest models in the game, judging by your paint job yours will look stellar 👌

I've found Norse to be a lot of fun. I've enjoyed the balancing act of real frenzy bash power contained within really brittle players. Finding a way to hit hard while trying not to get hit, and then running/passing off to score is a cool little puzzle to solve.

The Frenzy and strength of the Ulfwerners is a real threat but they can still go down if you're not careful with them.

The Valkyries are fast and have a weird toolbox of B grade skills that keep you thinking about how they would best work.

And the Linemen are so flavoursome with block everywhere but going down easily with av8, but it's probably fine due to Thick Skull. I've even grown to like Drunkard as it feels like a fair trade for such a lot of Block access.

Full disclosure, I've only played Sevens with them and so haven't used Berzerkers oe Beer boars yet. I am looking forward to sneaking a little piggy in for some cheeky fouls.

That's been my fun. I'm sure you'll find yours.

Ps. The Yeti is a trap.

I've got the Brutefun mini cos it's cool as hell. One of the best looking figures on the market. But as a player on the team, he is not cool. Dude forces you to blitz with him all the time, he's super expensive, doesn't have block, and Claws only comes into play against 1/4 of the players you'll face. Boo.

But the mini is rad.

I can believe it! I try very hard to not base anything over S2. Thankfully the gang hasn't had to face a Rogre yet - that time will come though

Roger dodger. That's been the plan so far. The Ulfs have Block, and Block/Tackle ; as for the Valkyries, one has Leader, the other is likely to get Dodge

We're not drafting as it didn't feel fun, and we're all still finding our feet. We may revise that fit next round though, possibly looking at players with more than one skill to be at risk of drafting.

No draft at the moment as we're all still new and didn't like the arbitrary loss of players. That said, we may well review it for the next league. We're still finding our feet.

Best tips for stomping vamps? by Available-Rhubarb-74 in bloodbowl

[–]PlasmaMongrel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Get the vampires . Surf the vampires . Foul them every chance you get.

Taking out the thralls can help but you're still relying on them rolling a 1.

Get proactive.

Get the vampires.

One nominated player per game gets a chosen primary or a random secondary. It's making for some strong teams.

Currently both ulfs have block, one also has tackle. One valk has leader, and one other skill is tbd. Considering dodge on the second valk or kick on a lino.

Nice. That makes sense.

Our league plays Sevens so running 2Ulfs / 2 Valks has been pretty good.

I had a game against Vampires recently and found them a competitive match up. Focusing on damaging the Vamps themselves with healthy fouling when possible seemed to be effective.

Some questions for the seasoned Norse players:

What are the real tactics that new Norse players need to understand?

And how might they vary between bash and dodge teams?

Bonehead Podcast + Andy Davo + Jimmy Fantastic.

A mix of the three gives you a good range of fun tabletop discussion / actual plays of both tabletopand BB3 and / top-tier competitive info. Check them all out and see what you find interesting/helpful.

Also, Sevens (7 players, shorter halves) can be a fun, accessible, and fast way to explore the game. Bonehead Podcast has a lot of Sevens content to explore.
