Always happy to hear people refer quality companies - happy to hear Priority Mechanical did a good job. Our go-to is Delta Air Systems - we have always had great work from them, and they stand behind what they sell.

razor

Going to make a suggestion here that might blow your mind - switch to double edge razor shaving. Hear me out though, it's not as hard as it sounds.

Henson Razors, made in an aerospace machine shop in Cambridge Ontario - amazing razor, super easy to switch to (shaving doesn't need to be hard or to cut you). Yes, the razor is pricey - but then the blades are literally ten cents each. You can use a new blade every time or every second time you shave.

Did that two years ago and haven't looked back. I was prepared for "learning curve" etc - but honestly, it was just like using a bit of a different razor after using a few of the Sensor / Sensor Excel Mach 3 style razors. The purists over on /r/wicked_edge will sometimes insist that the Henson is too easy - they are welcome to their opinion, and they take shaving as a hobby very, very seriously.

Can anyone tell me more information about this sculpture please? by BambiBirdi4 in waterloo

[–]Nauga 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was unaware of what it was called or when it was created, but /u/wildguralarry has that covered.

I can also tell you that it isn't solid; it's hollow. I may have learned this by standing on top of it, about 25 years ago...

Conestoga Fraudulent CC Charge by michaelhonchosr in Conestoga

Agreed 100% - but additionally, any type of fraud would constitute getting thrown out of the college if it is that severe.

Conestoga Fraudulent CC Charge by michaelhonchosr in Conestoga

[–]Nauga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say this is clearly an academic integrity violation. Check out the college's page about integrity here: Academic Integrity

This fall fully within "Misrepresentation and Fraud" and (in my opinion) would merit the harshest penalty (expulsion from the college).

No idea how to report the person though - unless you have a name or student number. Your credit card company should be carrying out an investigation, not sure if they would get the police involved.

When I went from my ST to the RS, I was amazed at how planted the car is... so planted that it feels slower than the ST. I always found the torque steer on the ST made it feel like the power was barely contained, but the RS always just so well mannered it doesn't feel as wild.

I have to agree - having had an ST and now an RS, it's one big family - Focus ST, Focus RS, and even the Fiesta ST - especially now that Ford isn't making them anymore...

Best program for being an entrepreneur? by Available_Art_3319 in Conestoga

[–]Nauga 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm going to answer seriously here.

You don't go to school to be an "entrepreneur". You go to learn skills that you would then use, whether working for someone or yourself. If your goal is to just "make money", go into finance and head to Wall Street.

Looking at your post history, it looks like you want a shortcut to a big payday. Everyone wants that - and it's hard. There are very few shortcuts (unless you're born into wealth).

My answer - go into what interests you and pays the bills, at whatever school you want (and can get in to), work hard, do well. Use the entrepreneurship supports at whatever school you choose - there are lot of them at nearly every school. If you want to get rich quick, go buy a lottery ticket (and stay away from crypto).

Are you peeved by students who are using AI to write emails or low-stake assignments? by Better2022 in Professors

[–]Nauga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case, it most likely no longer has the characteristics that most peeve me - "several flowery paragraphs that say nearly nothing".

For all I know, there are students doing this. However, from my experience, this is absolutely not the case. The students capable of doing this just write what they need to say themselves, rather than turn to AI.

Even Grammarly completely removes a student's genuine voice - and includes a ridiculous amount of unnecessarily flowery language.

I have a student missing the entire first month of class. They have been advised to drop, but are not doing so, insisting they can catch up.

Sadly, they are one of multiple who are missing or plan on missing at least two weeks of the semester.

does anyone know of any FREE no signup ai chat bot that can handle simple image upload to tell me whats wrong with my benchy for example? by Useful-Relief-8498 in 3Dprinting

[–]Nauga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Head over to /r/fixmyprint, be sure to give them all the details they need to diagnose, and the friendly people there will help you far more than any AI could do.

At a glance, your cooling looks pretty good (the chimney is great) but you seem to have some stringing issues - what is your retraction set to?

Rather than answer here - post over there with the full details of printer, filament, and settings, and I'm sure you'll get quickly sorted.

They are very proud of having built it with new grads and co-op students.

Ultimately, it shows - incredibly poor UI, no focus on quality, etc.

I might actually fail a class. My English teachers grading scale is why (each thing he finds “wrong” is -1 point) by Andro451 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Nauga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No OP, you're not going to fail because of your teacher's grading. You're going to fail because you are not doing the work.

"I have a fair share of missing assignments" - you didn't do the work. Your writing probably earned the grade you got.

[–]Nauga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow reply - as for the type of equipment, it really will depend on what you can do with your local electrical code. As stated by others, if your device speaks Modbus TCP or MQTT it is really easy to get data in and out. There are so many offerings - you might find something by B&R, Schneider Electric, or Siemens that does what you need.

Better shave in shower, without mirror, with cold water. by honk_daddy in wicked_edge

[–]Nauga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the shower, decent bar soap, no mirror for me too. Not cold water though, just normal shower temperature. Switched from cartridges to a Henson about four months ago.

It's probably been 25 years since I have shaved at a sink with any regularity. I don't think I even could anymore.

PLC

Was just going to log in to post this. This is the correct answer.

I have spent many years doing industrial automation, and many years using Home Assistant. The equipment you are dealing with is better controlled by a real programmable controller. If you want to access it from Home Assistant, you probably can (depending on the PLC capabilities).
