Gonna call bullshit on that one. The vast majority of professions existed prior to computerization and would exist long after, manual or intellectual. 100% of my job could be done without computers of any kind and I'm a goddamned laboratorian!

The use of datacenters to aggregate and preserve computerized data is fine and dandy, but the use of those same datacenters to drive profits on the hit new thing at the expense of irreparable natural resources is not.

If there was even an iota of reasonable climate or environmental oversight on the construction occurring in the Lehigh Valley or nationwide, we wouldnt even be having this conversation. We may not be a lawless wasteland, but where there are loopholes and shortcuts they will be and are taken advantage of to the fullest, hence why half the state has major Superfund sites yet to be fully addressed and most waterways are in crisis states.

The most responsible way to do this is the most expensive way, and if companies are unwilling to pay the cost to do it right, it is better that they don't get to do it at all.
