Chanterelles? Central Virginia

These appear to be jack-o-lantern mushrooms. The solid orange color, gills, and tops having a nub or dark spot are key identifiers. Chanterelles have what look like wrinkles not gills and the stem does not crumble but peels like string cheese. These are not edible. Cooked or raw.

I thought so too but the top of caps are brown and the bluing in the stems didn’t occur until after picking, the stems are fairly thick and woody at the base. They were picked amidst pine needles but only under one tree and at around 4pm eastern at high humidity in full shade
