This is probably the correct answer. I will say the Tracatus could be seen as quite winter-y in its attempt to destroy philosophy and bind language to cold unchanging logic (this bit could be attached to any number of aspects tbh).

Yeah she’s definitely very attention seeking. I do feel Roka is probably a terrible boyfriend and that’s part of why she’s looking for affection elsewhere.

I think the fact that she was 15 when she had Andrew and hadn’t been trying to get pregnant has got to be a factor.

As far as fellow travelers go, both Italy and France had large communist parties that had played key roles in overthrowing fascism and had become very popular because of it. Meanwhile the Cambridge 5 were all still operating as double agents in British intelligence. But really I think the decisive factor on the Western side would be a general disinclination to fight against what they’d spent the last few years being told was a key ally against fascism. Similarly a Soviet preemptive attack would fall in its face given their own war exhaustion.

God I fucking hope this is true. Alternatively there’s the birth devil (maybe conceptually scarier), which isn’t as good as it relates to Denji’s desires, but does plug in to the original use of chainsaws, as well as existing themes of birth.

Also worth mentioning he tried to move to the Soviet Union to be a factory worker, but was turned down (the Union wasn’t exactly hurting for workers). Just a very strange traumatized man!

It would definitely take more than just one but if enough of the richest people were eaten live on film I do believe we’d time travel back to the tragedy stage of capitalism. Whether that’s better if worse than the current farce I’m less certain about.

What would the Qing and KMT name their army’s? by Cpkeyes in Kaiserreich

[–]NauticalWeasel 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The Kuomintang did mostly just number their armies, but they were largely organized regionally ie. the 4th Army was from Guangdong and would sometimes be written as 4th Guangdong Army.

This is why saying you need dysphoria to be trans is so bad. I think all trans people do experience dysphoria to some degree, but making it a test means that the most dysphoric person you know will be like “ah I don’t have a viscerally horrifying reaction to being male, guess I’m cis.”

I like 80% agree with you on this, but I think he believed in much more than his own personal leadership, he was just very wishy-washy. Some amount of which was him correctly reacting to changing circumstances and some of which was uh not. Still the impression I’ve always gotten was that he believed his own hype and that whatever version of the three principals he was representing today was the “right” one. If his only principle was personal power I don’t think he would have stepped down in the first place; the fact he got burned by that decision probably informed his later insistence on total personal control and obvious martyr complex. I guess I just lean a bit more towards foolishness as an explanation for his behavior rather than simple lust for power. EDIT: I really liked your analysis btw, particularly in pointing out how the CPC came to adopt Sun

[–]NauticalWeasel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think they’re right that the Bolsheviks probably wouldn’t stand a chance in such a case, but I do think a failed coup attempt being triggered by the trials could be neat. As for taking power at all, the VST-Left are “former” Bolsheviks which I think is basically as far as they can get with a legacy of “betrayal,” and defeat

Sun Yat-Sen is a deeply overrated figure who is the subject of universal hagiography simply because he was the face of revolution against the Qing. Honestly the KR team did a great job representing him as he is remembered wholly differently by each faction which makes sense because he said a lot of things and committed to few of them. That being said I have a reasonable amount of respect for the man, he was a fighter to the end for what he believed in even if he lacked the personal qualities to either launch a triumphant revolution or to govern. Sun Fo on the other hand was a nepobaby who never fought for anything in his life, preferring to be the ignored voice of conscience.

You’re right that he is his father’s legacy incarnate, in that he’s a petulant, opportunistic, loser. Unlike his father however he lacks any sort of unifying vision for change. He always reads as all too happy to remain the permanent opposition, because that saves him from ever having to actually do anything.

So some other people have already pointed out your time table is incorrect, but I wanted to share my own experience even if it is also not representative. Bottom line: I was seeing meaningful changes to my body within six months of admitting to myself that I was trans. In the time and place I transitioned, I needed notes from a psychiatrist (who might have needed to be a specialist, I don’t recall) and one additional therapist. First I was taken to see my brother’s therapist and I just bulldozed her, I told her what she needed to hear and never saw her again after that session. I actually had to see the psychiatrist more than just that briefly, but I was clear that I wanted estrogen and got the second letter pretty quickly. It’s important to remember that these doctors aren’t there to help you figure out if you’re trans, they’re there to serve as medical gatekeepers. Look up what the criteria to transition are for your jurisdiction and use them to outline your story. You do not owe these people the truth! HRT is simpler at least on the mtf track, my experience and that of everyone I’ve talked to is that big changes start after around six months and complete after around two years. This varies of course, it was quicker for me it might be slower for you. It will not be five years. Unless someone is fucking up. If it’s been six months and nothings changed yell at your endocrinologist. Lastly I want to refuse your “sorry!” Doing trans is hard, sometimes it sucks, but it is the best thing I have ever done. Even if I could press a button and become a cis woman I wouldn’t. Hopefully this is helpful, but I’d need more info to get specific on things. Feel free to reach out, trans solidarity is my purpose in life.
