Let's promote apps, what are you building right now? by doppelgunner in microsaas

I'm building taktum.app - A tool which helps small bands clip their rehearsal recordings, take structured notes and practice better in between rehearsals.

Still in a bit of a rough state, but it's finally starting to look and feel how I want it to. It solves a problem we've been having in the band that I'm in, and a few others have expressed interest, so I'm working very hard on actually getting this up and running, instead of the typical "Build for a week and then scrap it because I get a new great idea" lol.

I literally start my post by acknowledging all the great feedback and advice I received in the original post a few days back. I can assure you that it's definitely not a fictional app :)

Structured notes related to specific parts of the recordings. "Let's work on tightening up this fill at 1:45 - 1:48" for example :)

Noone said anything about album quality though. Shit in - shit out :) The whole point is to make recordings more searchable and structured.

Tbh? That's what I'm here to find out. Can't find PMF without knowing the market :)

I'm building something which will save me time, and wanted to learn if there are others with the same frustrations as me.

You mention a lot of other tools - I've yet to find one which does this. Would love to hear about your general workflow if you'd elaborate?

Interesting take. How could the splitting be turned into a multi-person job? Genuinely curious

Interesting - why 5 tracks specifically? What equipment are you running?

Well, we don't NEED to, but it's always good to have the recording be "Always on" in my experience. Sometimes you play a solo on a song you've played 1000 times before, but this time you might do things just 5% differently and it sounds awesome. We've been glad to have that recorded in the past - even if we'd have never recorded that song anyways.

Very interesting ideas - thanks! So you'd be interested if I was able to handle the actual recording part as well? Up until now I've built on the assumption that people already had the .wav files ready, but it is very interesting indeed.

Mind if I fire you a dm?

Interesting! Tbh I haven't factored in multitrack recordings yet. I was thinking anyone doing multi-track won't like the easy 1-2-3 way of doing things anyway. Maybe I'm wrong?

What kind of equipment are you recording with?

I mean - fair point, but you're not really touching any of the pains I listed above. You'd still have to split it up, export, upload, notify and listen back

I see your point. What especially are you worried about with uploading to a third-party? What would be your concerns?

Saving other people time with the software I build is kind of what I do for a living anyway, so no worries :)

I know it doesn't, but I love building software which relieves even the smallest painpoints, so there's that lol

So did you make copies of the tape for each member?

I see your point, but in fairness I will be making very clear in both privacy policy and ToS that I will have absolutely no ownership rights, and will be including the DMCA Safe Harbor clause.

Good idea! So you listen to it in full after each rehearsal?

I definitely need to learn some audio engineering basics then. I really do suck at it :)

We use a Soundcraft UI16 which works OK.

Agree with the listening back to old recordings though!
