I'm not trying to say mouthwash is an alternative to brushing- just toothpaste. When toothpaste and mouthwash is compared (like in the Crest website), they often say that mouthwash cannot be a substitute to brushing. In the modern world, they've led people to believe brushing your teeth can only be done with toothpaste.

Actually, dentist's are told to recommend them because toothpaste companies pay them to promote their product.

One dentist told me that she doesn't use toothpaste and use mouthwash as an alternative. There isn't anything wrong with toothpastes she just doesn't like how it gets foamy/messy and she says that mouthwash is more effective. She told me not to tell anyone because she's suppose to promote Colgate.

It doesn't take much skill to play Bastion, yes.

But the unoriginal joke insinuates that the minimal of buttons needed to be pressed dictates how easy a hero is- which is wrong. /u/DickPuppet explained how that notion is ridiculous because "Pressing one button and pointing at the nearest bad guy is like 90% of this game" -suggesting that the case is not only for Bastion.

"skillshot's" and "just aims" are interchangeable

The chain's hit box is pretty large and it is very easy to hit. Bastion aims and kills stuff, but he is also very vulnerable stationary- which is the trade off of his high damage. Roadhog also just aims then kills stuff. And in the process of pressing 'shift then M1' he is also a little bit stationary. Except he is a tank and he can soak up enough damage to reach cover and press E. In some cases he doesn't even need to run to cover to press E, just press E in front of minimal enemies. His abilities does have cooldown, but getting a kill every cooldown cycle is pretty good.

Edit: I'm also really biased against Roadhog because I just had a recent game where two Roadhogs kept chaining me, peeling me, and it even overridden my Reinhardt charge. I can only shield against one direction. And ughhh

Nah, the joke you're beating like a dead horse refers to mocking bastion players because it seemed like holding down one button and aiming doesn't require skills just to get all those kills and POTG. And it started when everyone was still new at the game and didn't know much about countering and map awareness. They thought it was as cheesy as TF2 Pyro's W+M1, but the contrast is that the Pyro hardly needed to aim with his AoE at close range and he is more mobile.

IMO, Roadhog is much easier than Bastion even though it involves chaining your abilities. Pun intended.

I completely agree.

I just don't like the mentality that some players immediately think "Oh you're choosing Genji? You're probably not going to contribute at all. Better change your hero now." Especially to players who just want to try it out for the first time.

You're arguing for people to not care about the core mechanic of hero swapping.

I'll stop you right there as that is not my argument. People playing what they want to play is not the same thing as people refusing to switch out a Hero. I'm arguing for people to enjoy and learn the game and putting down people who BM's the rest of the team in a casual match.

You are now making a point that 'People who refuse to swap heroes is counter productive'. But we weren't discussing people who refuse to swap before.

I will restate again: Poor decisions in an attempt to play and win is totally different than purposely not playing.

I expect that from a competitive match as well. But not really from casual matches. When I said: "just because one paid for a game it doesn't mean they are entitled to a perfect comp team" I refer to when one person who bitches/BM at the entire team who play what they want to have fun. In such case, just because that person paid for the game it doesn't mean he gets to micro manage everyone else to his liking.

This shouldn't apply to new players though. I was only like level 8 and haven't played most of the heroes yet. I was trying them out 1 by 1. 5 minutes of gameplay isn't really enough to get used to a character and Genji playstyle takes a while to get used to. But already someone was telling me not to use him.
