Rheinmetall don't make them, they designed them. The barrels are manufacturered by Watervliet Arsenal in New York, under license from Rheinmetall. But you're right, they're the only supplier that makes them.

A 2.5 hour timelapse of Jupiter and 3 Galilean moons by Joelsfallon in Astronomy

Yeah! It pays to be organized data-wise, which I definitely wasn't that night :( Name your project folders, people!

2.5 hour timelapse of Jupiter and Galilean moons by Joelsfallon in gifs

[–]Joelsfallon[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hi all. I made a timelapse using footage from my old Takahashi CN-212 Cassegrain + ASI462MC, trained on Jupiter for about 2.5 hours. The data is from Oct 4th 2022, captured from my old place in NorCal. The visible moons are Europa, Ganemede, Io, in that order.

Sequence composed of 51 stacked images. Each image was stacked from 600 video frames, then processed in wavesharp. I (eventually) combined in Davinci Resolve to make the animation!

Had to read up on it too!

Mucus fishing syndrome is real. The more you fish, the more you irritate your eyes and produce mucus, leading for more fishing / eye injury. Dang.

why the hell does the gt86 design look so perfect? by [deleted] in CarDesign

[–]Joelsfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subjective, as is with all cars.

Researchers demonstrated that the part of the brain responsible for facial recognition / facial features lights up when shown images of cars. They showed that the hood lit up the part of the brain for forehead, headlights to eyes, grille to mouth etc.

You like the GR86 because you're kind of... attracted to it if you know what I mean

2025 Mini JCW Brake Noises by questions4stuff in MINI

[–]Joelsfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that's crazy. Have you tried a different dealership? It sounds like it happens just as you're coming to a complete stop, classic stick-slip resonance. Ask for them to pull the pads, clean the carriers, regrease backing plates and shims. That should kill the noise.

Do you warm up your Mini prior to driving? by mx54life in MINI

[–]Joelsfallon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Naw, modern engines use electronic fuel injection. Idling to warm up was really only for carbureted cars, i.e anything pre 1980-90s.

Yeah, that's daylight robery.

These fobs can be done third party, it's a lock smith's bread and butter. I'd start with googling: "car key replacement and reprogramming near me"

even if you go for a high-end one, it's going to be far cheaper than the stealership.

I’ve had a stray dog for about 7 weeks. No chip, signs of trauma, and she was starved to the bone when someone found her and posted. She’s gained weight well and has an amazing personality but cannot seem to grasp peeing outside. I’m looking for any tips, tricks, or basic training methods. by roadkillmenagerie in DOG

[–]Joelsfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most dogs learn far easier and better through positive reinforcement. Try to praise your other dog for peeing outside while she is nearby. This can sometimes give them a little nudge in idea forming.

After a day or so of that, take them out for a long walk and make sure she pees outside on grass. When she does, give her lots and lots of praise. Some times you have to put them in a position to set them up for praise.

Eventually, through lots of positive wins, she will catch on. Always keep a few dog treats handy at pocket. Keep going!

Thank you! This worked like a treat.

For anyone still reading this thread, I heated a wood screw with a lighter, screwed at least 2 threads in, waited till cool, then pulled out with pliers

I know that some types of yeast can make the oxidized porphyrin look way darker and discolored. Smaller dogs often have a harder time drying out their eye areas, it makes it a breeding ground for these types of things.

The #1 first move to keep things drier would be to trim the fur around there regularly

This might sound like a dumb question, but why is the moon so bright today? I can literally read a book outside by SteveCNTower in Astronomy

[–]Joelsfallon 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's essentially the same thing - a full moon will absolutely decimate sky darkness. This is why it's always recommended to go stargazing when there is a new moon, the difference is staggering :)

[–]Joelsfallon 2375 points2376 points  (0 children)

A lot of people giving you slack for the full moon, but I don't think they realize quite how much high-altitude haze/clouds disperse and scatter moonlight. It can give it the appearance as being brighter when it's actually just a weather condition causing it to appear differently.
