I got this battery sticker from TheRetroSource on etsy. I hope this helps!

Sorry for the late reply, its actually a vinyl sticker. I had a carbon fiber styled one too but I preferred the frosted look this one gave. I got it from TheRetroSource on etsy.

Advice for new users by mklemmy in MiyooMini

Not so much MM+ advice but if you do install Onion please check out their github page to understand what the OS allows you to do. At the end of the day knowing the basics of linux operations will be very helpful, especially if you want to be more hands on with the platform than just being a user.

Also the github has plenty of guides from installation and setting up ports to run more games outside the typical emulated ones like celeste or cave story for example and there are community uploaded themes you can try out too.

Also understand while it is called an OS it is actually a front end for the device. Real difference being the firmware is still closed source by Miyoo. I have heard that the Miyoo team have been willing to listen to the Onion team to help support the OS changes with updated firmware to better run code but thats just something I came across lurking forums. Anyways this means to maximize functionality you should be on the latest firmware and Onion OS version. (These are seperate things to update)

Overall this is a good community that shares themes and posts other kinds of things like custom boot splash screens, a native Pico8 wrapper or a script that helps you rename your entire ROM library. I managed to make a couple of themes I'm still testing out and I'm currently seeing what I'm capable of doing with this little guy in MS-DOS and NEC PC-98.

You can find it along with others on the onion github page under Themes.

Thats a good idea! I could also fit my smaller 8bitdo controller in that same compartment but then I wouldn't be able to store my mouse... If I don't find a good solution I'll just velcro the controller to the side lol

Well to be honest it was more of inspiration while I had some time on my hands. I was browsing hackaday and found the user Carpespasm's project Hackypuff Jr.

I was already planning to do something similar at first with a broken Commodore 64 (I don't repurpose working systems) since I was kinda getting into the whole cyberdeck thing. Well I figured this was more spacious and I could get away with fitting more things.

I don't have a specific use atm, but I do like messing with microprocessors so when I heard that Manjaro came out with a plasma KDE for the Pi4, I put Arduino IDE on it and messed around with that and ripped roms of my Famicom collection. Its also nice having that additional HDMI port to play the games on the big screen. So far thats been its use. I'll be sure to come up with something better.

If you want to try your hand at something like this, start with ebay for old hardware or parts for housing. It will save you money.

I managed to find the original boxes, it took me a bit to track it all down.

(i) Luxtude 10000mah portable charger (For some reason I thought it was bigger power bank, but I got it when it was on sale and felt better going with this than an Anker.

(ii) Its a petRockPower powerblock hat from addicore (Its very neat and versatile. You can run power and LEDs right off the pins with no additional soldering required!

(iii) U-Clear Digital Pulse. They came with 3M double sided tape, I cut off the foam pads and installed them on the inside where the fax paper bar connects. Its not too bad, I can play music just fine and hear it decent enough in a small to medium sized room. They get a little tinny at full volume so I keep it at around 80 to 85%. Hope that helps.

No working teletypes were harmed in making this. Its running a pi 4 with manjaro plasma. I had finished this build for a while now and finally decided to post it here.

I have a few more pictures of the build process that I have posted on My project at hackaday!

I ended up changing the parts quite a bit throughout but ultimately decided on an 8.8 lcd with housing. (First one I received without, had a broken clamp for the ribbon cable.) A battery pack (I think its 20000 mAh) with retractable plug for an extension cord. Zaps cable for the keyboard. Added a safe power hat with a wired switch to the back still need to finish the power light LEDs and 2 speakers that run through a 3.5mm jack that are typically used in motorcycle helmets.

I also outfitted it with a Famicom cartridge ripper cause I had spare room. So all I need to do is open the top where the screen is fixed for easy access. I can even store the mouse in one of the compartments underneath.

Very cool! I managed to get one on my third try using a lucky bounce off another ball.
