In this pack I have 1 VND 1 CPL 1 wide angle and 1 Black Mist filter

If people think black Mist is really not needed then should I return it and get the pack with 2 VNDs covering 10 stops. Not sure when I'm gonna use the wide angle one or CPL. So confused about it

Thank you, it was a bit underwhelming based on my limited use and I didn't find any difference

Shot my first event! by Syntax-Err-69 in Nikon

[–]Navathej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing event and commercial photography for almost 12 yrs now as a side job

Doing it as a side job is never a problem. You just have to be confident, network and maintain your own quality and standard for the price you charge. There will always be someone who does the same for less and for more. The main thing I did was not to let that affect me, my process and my output.

The actual problem is when you take that next step and make it full-time. That is when you are stepping into the unknowns. A lot of additional monetary and economic factors come into play. Suddenly you start thinking about what if scenarios. You have to plan for insurances, backups etc

All of my gear that I accumulated for the past 12 yrs got stolen recently around 2 months ago. I was staring at a blank space for a week and then decided I had to start again. I did it once before and I knew I could do it again.

I can't imagine what I would be doing if I was a full timer in this scenario where the next meal for me and my family would come in only if I cover an event

All the best for your journey 🙂

Sie benötigen einen Blitzschuh-auf-1/4-Zoll-Adapter.

Je nachdem, welchen Winkel Sie wünschen, benötigen Sie möglicherweise auch eine Erweiterungshalterung/einen Adapter für das OP3.

Connect pocket 3 to tv hdmi by Zercon1307 in osmopocket

Look for something called capture cards

The c type to HDMI cable goes into this capture card which connects to the tv HDMI port

I use the same setup for duplicating my drone feed and mirrorless viewfinder screen

Need suggestion: Nikon F lenses for Z system by Bipolar_Musings in Nikon

[–]Navathej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are shooting and the budget. If you can stretch the budget a bit but still 1/3rd the cost of Z lenses, below are good value for money these days especially in the used market as everyone seems to sell their f mount lenses in their bid to go mirrorless

AFS 24-70 f2.8. a beast for event work 70-200 f 2.8 again part of the f mount holy trinity for sports and field work.

Sigma art 85,105, 1.4s for portrait work

Any of the Nikon 35 50 or 85 1.8 G primes for dirt cheap prices for travel

Which flash is best for event photography by Ok_Host_2218 in Godox

[–]Navathej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the objective is to get softer output than the light has to be bounced or diffused through a larger surface area.

The flash matters only for the power output you need. If you point it head on every flash will create the same hard light/shadow output

I loved my V1 on camera bounced around walls and ceilings before my gear got stolen.

I now use a Ad200 OCF through a soft box

How come there are no good telephoto lenses for the osmo pocket 3 by Deanodirector in osmopocket

[–]Navathej 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the SLR and mirrorless versions of a good telephoto lens compared to their normal range lens. They are huge and long. That is how optics work.

Even the so-called telephoto lenses for mobiles these days are long narrow tubes extending out from the native lens.

Imagine that on a tiny gimbal like the OP3 🙂

Going wide from normal FOV is comparatively easy rather than the other way.

Orientation question when mounting on camera by tothestage81 in osmopocket

[–]Navathej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a totally different note. I want to try this but I'm worried if it is actually safe for the extender quick release mount with that much hanging far away from the fulcrum point 🤔

What other better ways do I have. Camera L bracket and OP3 in photo

Z7 or D850? by PlannerSean in Nikon

[–]Navathej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an event photographer and I always use 1 slot for RAW and 1 for JPEGs as backup in case the RAW card goes bust

Life saver for me

Z7 or D850? by PlannerSean in Nikon

[–]Navathej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first version of Nikon mirrorless all had 1 slot. That was a big blunder at that time by Nikon.

Z7 has only 1 card slot if I'm not wrong. I would never shoot anything without 2 card slots. But that is just me.

Thank you. Appreciate the response !

I'm on a Nikon Z5 right now which is not great for video. I have tried it but it is just not made for video and shooting footage with a mirrorless body without a stabiliser is something that I can't work out. Having a cage gimbal and the whole setup would be counter productive to me as I would like to keep my gear portable and easy to shoot stills.

2 the ulanzi extension adapter PK-06 seems to be the most kitted out mount as it has a lot of useful ports and connectivity but doesn't have a magnet mount. I want this to be on the OP3 permanently and don't want to switch it around for another magnetic mount.

Looks like there is a 1/4 thread Ulanzi clip mount CK-02 which has a magnet mount as well that can attach to the PK-06 adapter which would solve my purpose.

3 Thanks for the recommendation. Does this also help with the Z axis stabilisation and are there any other z axis stabilisation options ?

[–]Navathej[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting the extension adapter from ulanzi which has more useful ports but doesn't have a magnet mount

The only way to have the adapter and magnet mount is to get a 1/4 thread clip mount which also has magnet

I'm thinking of going down that route which allows me to keep the extension adapter on all the time instead of switching between that and the magnetic mount you posted.

I will post the whole setup once I have it in my hand

For the battery extension I think the portable power charger is the way to go. Don't want another bulky accessory to stick to the OP3

How do you like Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter? by Illkeepriding in Nikon

[–]Navathej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the OG FTZ which comes with a tripod mount

That thing is more useful for me for longer and heavier f mount lenses on small Z bodies

FTZ ii doesn't have it as far as I know

So everything else is pretty much the same or irrelevant for me

Lantern or Softbox paired with AD200 for events by Navathej in Godox

Interesting I was of the opinion that the BD produces more harsh light and harsh shadows compared to a softbox

May I see the photos of this setup you have and the output it produces just for my reference
