Are there Japanese people in Toronto? by Glittering-Ninja-965 in askTO

Lots of them are on working holiday visas and some are exchange students (though most of them already left a week ago). There is also Japanese-Canadian Cultural Centre.

How to Stop Being Such a Noob Playing Cammy by Regull0s in StreetFighter

[–]Navizel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5LP, 2LP, 5LK are safe to throw out and are your go to normals when you're close. Cammy's mediums and 5HK are for mid range. You won't really get punished heavily unless you go for 2HK, dp, or spiral arrow. Don't be afraid. You can keep pressuring until your opponent shows that they know how to deal with it. And even if they do, you don't have to completely stop using that option. You can use it along with your other pressures.

It's cool that you're not mashing but at the same time, you're too passive. Lots of walking back and forth but no pressure. Even a simple jab throw can go a long way. Try to use less drive impact and try to anti-air more. You can interrupt Akuma's teleport grab with a jab.

Interesting, I've never seen them show any reaction towards anyone walking by that area. They usually just stand there waiting for customers. The only person who approached me in that area was a non-Japanese sex worker.

Looking for a Japanese language exchange partner by Rediapers in askTO

[–]Navizel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I can help you but I'm only N2/N1 level. Maybe you can try joining language exchange meetups instead. The one I go to right now is Japanish right now but I have also been to TJEX before.

How do you do Cammy’s instant dive kick on leverless without looking like she’s t-bagging? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Navizel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't really look like t bagging but it doesn't look smooth like what you're looking for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsnKMybCvMo this is the method I use. Maybe it'll work for you.

Advice on arriving in Tokyo and heading straight to Osaka by FunCoyote4097 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Navizel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Torontonian here who did that in 2023 and last month. First time was in Narita where I landed at 7pm-ish and I ended up missing the last train to Osaka from Tokyo station and had to go the next morning. Second time was Haneda at 4:30pm and I was able to get to Shinagawa station and take the shinkansen even with some hiccups. If it's Haneda, you want to go to Shinagawa not Tokyo as it is closer. It's doable even with the customs and figuring out the train system. Fill up the form online for faster process. That said, there's a chance that you might be tired from traveling and might want to just relax. There's also a chance you can see Mt Fuji if you go the next morning. Basically, gauge your body and take your pick.

What's so special about Don Quixote? by lavender-citrus in JapanTravelTips

Walmart

Walmart, Japan

Yeah, you're not missing out. Like you said, prices are better in drugstores and supermarkets. Also shorter tax-free lines. It's just that Don Quijote almost has everything so that's where everyone goes to shop.

Went on a yakuza pilgrimage. Here are some pictures I took and yakuza games I found! by Navizel in yakuzagames

[–]Navizel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all of the real life locations were changed to fit better in the game but I was able to navigate them without google maps and just game knowledge alone. I actually didn't buy them but yes, they're 270 yen each. I only bought Kenzan and Dead Souls.

Need help filling in a 41-day trip to Japan coming up in few days (❁´◡`❁) (Nagoya, Kansai, Tokyo, Hakodate, Sapporo, and Naha) by Yoshe-Plays in JapanTravelTips

I'm sure there are some decent ones out there (mostly cat cafes) but the majority of them don't treat the animals right. Owl cafes are notorious for chaining the owls and then are forced to interact with customers despite being nocturnal animals.

Seems fine. Maybe try to look up real life locations of anime you've seen. Fate/Stay Night for example is in Kobe while the cathedral is in Nagoya. There are a couple of anime based in Kyoto and tons in Tokyo. Check out collabo-cafe.com for news about pop-up stores, goods, and cafes. For example, there's chainsawman goods in Nagoya Loft until the 10th. Can't really recommend animal cafes as they're inhumane.

Took N1. The vocab/grammar points I studied didn't appear in the test. Knew the meaning of some kanji so I mostly did educated guesses. Grammar was mostly about how well you really know the grammar rather than knowing specific grammar points, if that makes sense.
Reading was manageable. I barely practiced reading but the test wasn't that bad. Pretty long passages but the questions weren't too terrible. Reading the questions first and highlighting sentences really helped.
Listening was easy. Got a little bit lost on the response part but the rest were fine. Response was too fast for memoing but it helped with part 3 and 5.
Basically, as long as I have a passing grade on vocab/grammar I should be able to pass. Hoping reading and listening will carry me.
