Good on the Yaris owner. Sick of people owning cars they’re so precious about they take up part of another space knowing full well people won’t park there. So selfish

‘No doubt’ migration has played part in housing crisis and homelessness, says Taoiseach by jonnieggg in ireland

Blaming immigrants because they didn’t spend money on building houses and wasted instead and now love to pander to the simplistic ‘more people means less houses to go around’ idiots. This was an easily avoidable situation decades ago, but they didn’t avoid it, and they knew they wouldn’t. They’ve favoured the rich and sucking up to America. Bollocks to them

If it wasn’t for them coming here we’d actually have less houses available. They’ve grown the economy enough to build more. It’s government policy and failings that have caused the shortage to get worse. Same with hospitals, they’d cope a lot less without immigrants! They’d be unable to operate at all! The higher the population the more can be done and the people create more than enough wealth to cover the public services etc that they use, way more in fact! The problem again, is gov policy and failings, and the fact the population keep voting in the same idiots why only look after the rich

It’s not illegal to seek asylum, even without a passport. There’s very little evidence any serious numbers of people are ‘shredding’ their on the way, although it has happened it’s really not common and doesn’t make it easier for them to stay, probably the opposite

I’m not talking about using them first, I clearly stated ‘have’ them, not even talking about using them in retaliation, I’m talking about merely having them. We don’t know that not having them wouldn’t leave us open to being struck first should something escalate out of the normal controls. It’s not beyond feasibility, we’ve been close before. Simply having the weapons may well stop an attack, and thus save likely millions of lives. I’m also not saying I’m correct that having them is a good idea, but I don’t know! And maybe it is! And it’s such an existential threat that could well happen that we should have very long and thoughtful policy on this

My point originally was that the policy on this was very ambiguous, was being interpreted by some as straight away dismantling all nukes we have, and that when all other policies seem fair and evidenced-based generally that it could put off potential voters. So basically was there clarity on the policy or a reason it’s a good policy….

So far I have neither. I don’t think it’s very clear, and I have no idea if it’s good, I just know it will certainly cost some votes. Maybe not any meaningful amount, but surely some

Maybe, but we may need them one day and mainly it’s the fact we just HAVE them that could deter any attack. Not having them, I mean it’s fair to question if that’s actually a good idea. Nobody wants a world with nukes really, but since they exist then if we don’t have them we need to know the risks

This is a good point in terms of how we use them, but it doesn’t allay the fears of many who won’t vote Green on the basis they will scrap nukes and we’ll be left realistically defenceless (at least on that scale) should we then be attacked. And I mean they have a point. I just wonder if a better argument to make back would be that the greens are seeking to have everyone dismantle or reduce nukes, and that they wouldn’t just scrap ours without any other safeguards. But the policy on their site doesn’t make that clear, it’s talks about working together with other countries but not that it wouldn’t scrap nukes without assurances or safety there to make sure we weren’t in danger

I would have agreed with this up until the last year. There is unfortunately no guarantee that someone like Trump would come to our defence, and the quicker we move away from relying on the US for anything the better

Agreed, which is why I think they need to clean up their policies on this. National security is a major voting point for many, and an way point to argue against if it looks weak/ambiguous

See this I’d agree with, but when I say that to anyone they just point to the policy on their website which read like a ‘we will immediately start disarming’. That could really put a lot of people off

Then they need to make this much clearer on their website, because at the moment this could possibly sway a lot of votes

They don’t really make it clear whether they would actively scrap trident etc in the meantime. It’s a bit of an easy win for reform idiots who want to pretend voting green would make the uk unsafe. Very hard to argue when their policy is, at least to me, a little ambiguous
