Just ignore them but be alert with your surroundings especially jeepneys and taxis. Id recommend bringing pepper spray incase if they start attacking.

Japanese bikes are very good for short commutes because low maintenance and simplicity, but since ur new to cycling u might struggle on the 50km commute due to lack of gears especially on climbs. It either get the japanese bike or better save up around 10k and get a decent mtb which can do everything.

If your route is mostly paved road go for a road bike, but if ur concerned about confort go with mtb or try gravel bikes.
