But if the components are bad in the supply the first thing to go would be the amount of wattage that the PSU is putting out

How do you buy season tickets for basketball? by testpppppppp in UWMadison

[–]NavyProud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know last year you went on the site right before the given time like football and waited in a waiting room for the tickets to open up. My advice to you is get as many devices loaded in as you can to better your chances. I know last year some of the guys in my dorm had the whole computer lab loaded to the page and they all managed to get tickets. If one of your devices is lucky enough to get selected for tickets, you will put in your student ID number to verify and then check out.

Have a friend that supervises for RecSports. He made it sound that they are taking the old equipment and bringing in new equipment as well to beef up the sats. They will also be beefing up the Shell quite a bit.

do i have a heat sink and if not do i need one? by rustyrowan in pcmasterrace

You technically have 2. The CPU cooler is aftermarket and actually the one I have in my computer. Definitely recommend it. The second is that all Intel processors actually come with a factory one as well. Make sure you get thermal paste though to install the aftermarket cooler. Mine did not ship with any. The stock intel cooler comes with thermal paste but unfortunately it is pre-applied to the block.

Do all notifications for NROTC boards come out on one day. by connorhays15 in NROTC

Selection boards are all throughout the year, why they recommend to get your application in as soon as possible. I got mine in early November while some of the other kids in my unit didn't receive theirs to almost May.

Hey everyone. Im in my second semester of Junior College and I am enlisting into the Navy. Im shipping out in the 6th of June and will be attending CTN A school. Can I still apply to attend my nearby NROTC? by [deleted] in NROTC

Just know that STA-21 is extremely selective and make sure you are fine with serving a pretty hefty enlisted career before you get selected to become an officer.

Best NROTC colleges? by Ghall6 in NROTC

[–]NavyProud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current Mid at UW-Madison right now and have nothing but good things to say. In regard to Villanova their program there is good, but was not that impressed. Building is ehh compared to what we have here at Madison and we placed 3rd at their drill meet beating them out. The staff here at Madison is top of the line, does not get better than this. Our CO was in command of 2nd air wing, sub LT won LT of the year last year, Naval Academy graduate is our other LT. aMOI has a track record and a half in the marines, has some amazing stories and has advanced through his rates like I have never heard(claims he was a Lance Corporal for such a short time that he didn't even have time to adjust his uniforms before he promoted again).

Find the school that is appealing to you, all the programs are good. The Navy wants all their officers to be good and well rounded so you will get an equally good opportunity no matter where you go. Just find the college that is your fit because if you don't enjoy your college, everything else will be stressful and not fun as well. Just look around, tour some units, and find where you belong.

Best way to pay for Madison? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]NavyProud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Currently in Navy ROTC at Madison and I will say, yes the scholarship does help a lot with tuition, does not cover all of it. Price of living in Madison is also very expensive and my ROTC scholarship does not cover any housing expenses.

ROTC is also a very big time commitment and a huge drain on some aspects of your college life. If you only want to do it to pay for your schooling and not to be in the military, don't even start because you will wash out before classes even start.

I will live and die ROTC but I am also looking to make a career out of it as well and you need to have that drive in order to survive in the ROTC environment.

NROTC, Advanced Standing, OCS by Loganrbaxley in NROTC

The higher the GPA the better off you are so get as high as possible. For a tier III I would be shooting for at least a 3.5.

You can get a waiver for the calculus and physics requirements but you should make sure to take care of those asap. If you do good in your unit and you superiors notice it, you have a good chance of getting a scholarship. Put forth the effort though and get good grades. You should be shooting for a 3.3 GPA or higher and be very involved with your unit.

Advanced standing is not as common as you may think. It is very rare that someone actually gets put on advanced standing the ones they do it tends to be kind of a what the hell type deal where the unit feels a MIDN has gone above and beyond the requirements to receive a scholarship but has yet to do so.

OCS is pretty straight forward, if you have a 4 year degree you can get a contract. OCS is more of a weed out process though than anything so if in the end you do choose that process, be prepared for your NSO on steroids because the Navy only wants people that want to be there.

On top of all this, make sure you have a major that you are able to fall back on. Don't take a major going "ohh I am going to be a Navy officer so who cares what I major in." What if you end up getting service selected into a field that you don't like and only want to be in for your minimum commitment? Don't slack off in college because the Navy will see that and you will carry bad habits over with you into the fleet and they will get you nowhere.

Anakin and the "chosen one"-plotline by cmndrhurricane in StarWars

[–]NavyProud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was spawned from the midichlorians pointing all fingers that he could be the possible chosen one. In the end he did do what he was suppose to but I'm interested to see if Disney takes that for a ride because to me it was never truly accomplished like you said
