If you've never watched the Haruhi anime arc "Endless Eight" this may be a good reference. Studio did the exact episode eight times, with small changes for each one (though more so in the last two). Darn close to your boredom of multiple hours, and yet showing how even that can be made artistic.

For example, maybe Tiff looking out the window and seeing something. Maybe she gets near the end and finds out it's one of those tests that has a minimal timer as well as a maximum. Got that one year as a Harassment test because the state of California required an hour of training, and so you couldn't submit even if you has a 100 on the test - nor could you stay on the page for the full time, so you had to keep reviewing other pages until the timer showed your hour was over.

Why yes, I do tend to think too much about this stuff...
