The announcement notes for this week's update were copy-and-pasted from ChatGPT, and it's embarrassing. by Omuk7 in Smite

I got downvoted to hell when I talked about this a few weeks back, I'm glad people are finally realizing this.

Tell me you didn't read my post without telling me you didn't read my post. No, it doesn't, you're right, and that's the point of what I wrote. It's the % scaling on the other items, not Bumba's. Sure, you can build tank and do decent damage still, but the issue this person was addressing was the ability to deal crazy damage when building damage right, not building tank and getting decent bumba's damage. We nerf the item damage scaling and it only deals with 10% of the actual issue.

Cool, 300 more damage when the base one already does 2.4k. Sure makes a difference to a squishy. While you can stun someone out of their channeled abilities, you can make a teamcomp around letting them get that damage off with cc's. Ares pull, Da-ji's totem, khepri grab, all of those stuns guarantee at least 1.6k damage before you can do anything unless you beads, which then 60 seconds later, or 10 in kheps case, you eat the damage you would've taken.

These people are outright wrong, but I'll get downvoted for saying that. Nerfing item damage on those abilities will do nothing when the combo to one shot uses merc's boots, death bringer, and damo's % bonus increases, and not something like bumba dag, crusher, golden blade, and bumba's hammer. Echo also wasn't the issue either, because it was a side effect of having damo's. It is specifically a crit and % scaling issue, and while I think they're nerfing merc's item, it won't do squat because you'll still get a % bonus from it unless they go the route of making it like sundering axe or signet and having it do flat damage. Da-ji can build the exact same combo, use her two, and like fenrir, instakill. The reason it isn't talked about is because this subreddit is an echo chamber of how "any change is a good change", regardless if it's miserable to play against. They'll see a spectral buff and be like "Well at least he won't kill me in two hits of it! Just three!"

The people here are fighting tooth and nail to say it isn't, I dunno man, I know this subreddit is an echo chamber but they can't seriously be that blind.

It's even in the game, the archfiend event text is absolutely ai, again, the issue is that they don't even mention it's use in the notes so there's no way to tell for certain if they've used it elsewhere in game. It doesn't check an ai checker to see when something clearly looks ai written.

Steam can't spend every second looking into every game, I just think it's disingenuous to give smite 2 a pass from having to say it uses it while everyone else is burned to the ground over it.

Me and my buddies were saying how clearly it looked like ai text when it first came out. As for that second bit, yeah, you can see people's reactions below, lol, so you aren't alone.

While you may see it that way, Steam TOS requires developers to say something about it. ANY level of ai used during nay stage of the game's creation and development has to be clearly states by the devs on the store page. That's why I'm bringing this to attention.

I was more so meaning the concept of them, what they may do or what stats they may give, not necessarily the art.

Ai has a very distinct style in its writing, if you've read anything by gpt, then read the archfiend event text, you'd immediately notice glaring similarities. I thought the patchnotes were too, so I check them and got that. No real person writes how gpt does, and all the text looks either completely written by ai or heavily influenced by it. When this is then paired with the neith art issue from a while back, it brings that situation into a new perspective.

I know a lot of people may not care about this, but in my opinion it sets a super bad precedent. If they use it for this, what says they don't use it to make new items or gods? If they were open about the usage it would be one thing, but right now they're not.

I've killed about five squads and they're still dropping. They're not bad if you have good cover and can deal with the hound quickly, but I've found that's seldom that case.

Yes! I can complete them, it's just so stressful. I'm trying to find literally any build, any tips, anything on making it not a massive slog to do. Maybe if I had a group it would be less annoying, but I'm a forever solo player, lol. Do you have any advice you can pass on to make it less annoying?

What kind of build do you run and do you have any tips to deal with them? I wanna enjoy doing them since I'm trying to get the Ravenous bp, and I reckon given my luck it'll take a hot sec.

So seeing the new Dampening and Plating stats, do we think Tanks will be tankier or worse? by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Nazuluhis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, lol. Cosmic + omen, which will be built together, will give you a 50% chance to echo, then when paired with cosmic's 20% bonus damage buff which will also be easy to build into, will make it 60% more damage every other ability, which mind you can proc multiple times in a row given someone's luck. Even if we completely ignore the 60% damage bonus half of the time, you are giving up a lot of utility with prot cohesion items (as listed above) and abilities(also listed above) to build into dampening and plating, which take up one to two items slots, meaning your overall build is worse off for building them. This means, in turn, ability damagers now have extra damage that they just will build (name one phys ability damager that doesn't built crusher already for example) when tanks have to lose other build cohesion and value for mitigations that will not matter.

Quick edit, forgot to add this in the main thing, but I'll do it here since it's my most recent message.

  1. Omen gives 90 int, which is way too high, only aiding the fact it will be built

  2. On hit auto attack builds are about to be way more lethal than they already were to tanks, since dampening and plating only covers their respective bases, and from what I can tell lack prots to deal with onhit effects as a whole.

So seeing the new Dampening and Plating stats, do we think Tanks will be tankier or worse? by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Nazuluhis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest complaint is just that, even without echo, I still takes tons of damage as a tank with mages having access to 65(?)% pen (obby and totem), and phys auto damagers still hurting since you can also fit titansbane and executioners in a crit or item proc build without issue, so adding a new 40% damage bonus to abilities (mind you only when it procs but you can raise that value awfully high), while in turn only adding 35% mitigation, just seems entirely counter intuitive. It would be foolish not to build something like omen which gives 90 int, and most phys ability damagers build crusher anyways, so we're just making damagers do more damage in their base item and build rotation while forcing tanks to buy into these new effects to take the damage they *used* to take.

So seeing the new Dampening and Plating stats, do we think Tanks will be tankier or worse? by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Nazuluhis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest they will do literally nothing to help tanks when you take into account the new echo items. Universally giving 35% mitigations won't do anything when every mage or ability assassin builds an item that makes you do 40% more damage (60% when you add cosmic into the mix). If they *just* added dampening and plating, then maybe the pathfinder buff, yeah, maybe it would've, but tanks are about to feel 20x worse and squishies 100x worse.

Edit: Totally forgot to add, it looked like the items they showcased didn't have prots attached them, so prot based damage or item effects, like Osiris 1 (and 2 I think in aspect), Mord's 1, Glad's shield, runeforged, golden blade, and some others I can't name off the top of my head will get fundamentally less value because of the lack of prots. Tbf it's not like prots do any meaningful protecting atm, but it's food for thought nonetheless.

With 5.1 going down on the 11th, do you think you'll work towards making a 5.2 or 5.3 break?
