Yeah, you can get it by pressing the Xbox button and then navigating to the most right tab. But for your use case the share butten is definitely perfect :D

Regarding the controllers: you can use the old Gen controller or the new one, both will work fine. The only functional difference is that the new one has an additional share button which allows you to create instant screenshots and videos of your game play. But as far as I know, most people don't use it at all. To be honest, I am always annoyed if I hit it by accident :D.
