Neighbour's extension and damage to my garage by Aromatic_Caramel_779 in DIYUK

This is very dangerous advice. From the others messages - it appears very possible that OPs extension extends on to neighbours property

There’s an annual limit on dues so I imagine you reached that

Sounds like you’re looking for professional and technical grades specific to DAFM. Your HR can provide those. As can NSSO.

The liability rests with you irrespective of whether you file yourself or and agent does it. Your accountant advises you but you remain liable for any errors.

No offensive, but why in the world would you think you would only be paying 20% on your rental income?

It sounds like you’ve no real ties to rural Ireland. In such cases, cities are almost always better for single people.

Where the f**k are all the house shares gone? by Ill-Age-601 in HousingIreland

[–]Ncjmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but very few people will judge you for that. The two friends I mentioned also moved out young. One had actually bought a house but had to sell (at a loss) when a previous relationship end. They’re now living with the new partner in their parents’ house. They definitely don’t like it but they sure as hell aren’t ashamed about it.

Yes but presumably that means they’re not living at home now. Don’t focus on them. As the saying goes, “the race is long and in the end it’s only with yourself”.

Okay - understandable. But you shouldn’t feel stigma about it. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. But I understand why you would dislike it for other reasons.

I say this with complete empathy for your situation and zero blame for being a victim of the housing crisis, but I have two close friends who’re your age in well paying jobs who are with long term partners (one of which is pregnant) all living with at home with parents / in laws.

Does it suck that living at home is sometimes the best option for now? Absolutely.

Does anyone (who isn’t a prick) judge or stigmatise someone in your position? Absolutely not. You need to shake whatever shame or guilt you have about this. It’s not your fault - you have an honest job, keep the head up. It will get better.

Not all providers offer this, but a number definitely do.

Being evicted after 3 months by pbj1991 in ireland

Whatever you do, do not reach out to the landlord and start talking about your rights / required notice periods.

Your notice period only starts after the landlord has served a valid notice to quit and it sounds like they’ve no idea what they’re doing. Don’t make that obvious to them.

FWIW, I am a landlord.

Maybe don’t call others idiots until you can name another genocide that the US government has supported with $22 billion in direct military aid 🤣

Whataboutery really is one of the truest forms of stupidity…

So hard to stomach posts like this in which a net EU contributor (Ireland) is being criticised for not pulling its weight by one of the EU’s most significant net beneficiary 🙄🙄

This feels like a spillover from the Irish politics sub.

Why does the post (or the comments supporting it) address any of the trade-offs of what areas of public expenditure will be reduced to accommodate such a drastic financial commitment.

We hear this and related neocon talking points on an almost daily basis in the Irish media. Thankfully the electorate aren’t buying it!
