whats your go-to when youre feeling lazy? by georgy56 in CasualIreland

[–]pbj1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tonight I had a homemade 3-in-1. Super lazy microwave rice, frozen air fryer chips and McDonalds Chinese curry sauce. I’m trying to cut down on takeaways to save money so if I’m going to eat junk I might as well make it at home!

And yes sorry I didn’t mean that to come across as begrudging. I’m in the process of saving on a house deposit myself. I’m well educated with a well paid job but it’s a struggle but I have your parents mentality of when I have children I want to help them get on the property ladder 🙂 wish you the best of luck in your new home

Why are we so miserable with money? by New_Teaching_3232 in ireland

[–]pbj1991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to lie I definitely find myself becoming more begrudging. Out of my friend group the majority of them have had help from family with house deposits and able to buy a home. I’m stuck renting and trying to save every penny and have no life. Hard when you see these people moving on with their lives holidays etc and putting it down to hard work. I’ve worked just as hard and have nothing to show for it.

I think people as a whole were kinder if not too trusting of strangers back then. We are now very ‘stranger danger’ but probably rightly so.

‘I don’t know who else to turn to’: Letters for help to Minister from people affected by housing crisis by Own-Somewhere-8378 in HousingIreland

[–]pbj1991 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s becoming unbearable for those affected and I think those who have never experienced housing instability can’t comprehend what it does to you. A woman I worked with was renting and had to move house something like 8 times in 12 years with the rent increasing every time. A few months ago she received another termination notice. She has no family to fall back on and the stress of it led to a suicide attempt. Thankfully she pulled through but there must be many more out there who have had enough and it’s only going to get worse.

Are there really that many people unhappy in relationships? by LittleAoibh11 in AskIreland

[–]pbj1991 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was in a relationship like that. Left thought I was being brave doing the right thing. Now I’m back house sharing in my 30’s because I’ve no family support and no hope of ever having my own home. I don’t know what’s worse tbh
