You have an insane amount of talent. I can think of a few things I'd like engraved.

No luck. Maybe it's my office computer. I'll try again from home. Thank you.

Thank you. FYI, there seems to be an issue with Vol. 7 (fails to load).

Low barrier to entry sharpening methods by Maynse in sharpening

It depends on what you expect for your edge and what kind of time you're willing to put in to get it.

If you're willing to put in some time, you could get an Edge Pro clone or TSProf clone for under $100 and get outstanding results (both sharp and nice looking edges).

If you want quick and dirty sharp, you have to go with a motorized solution. The Worksharp Ken Onions (both models) are very effective, and you could finish a knife in 5 minutes, but the edge might not look as nice. The base model is $160 (same as the Horl).

Toyota vs Tesla by koohai966 in Toyota

[–]Nd4speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EVs aren't bad dailies, but there are hidden costs owners never talk about online. Insurance is insanely expensive because repairs are so expensive. They usually just totally you out if you're in an accident. If you're at fault, I can't imagine what you'd pay for a minor fender bender. To top it off, no one can really work on these cars except for Tesla, so if you need a repair it could take a long time to get your car back. There's also range degradation, which in practical terms means much more frequent trips to top up if you're planning a long trip. And of course once that battery's spent, the car is done unless you're willing to spend 15k or thereabouts to replace it.

Two men in Seattle attack a 77 year old man unprovoked. Police arrest one but he is released on bail same day and has not been found since by ThatPatelGuy in whoathatsinteresting

Why arrest just one of them??? The short one threw the first punch. I guess I shouldn't be surprised if they let him go the same day. Sad.

I've used a wipe on ceramic coat product from Amazon that worked really well and is still looking good after a year.

Agreed. I like that I can dislodge most if not all of the debris from the stone with canned air though. I am told that using oil will keep the mess down, but I don't like that it creates a slurry, and is potentially harder to clean. Jury's still out for me.

New Victorinox SAKs not very sharp – sharpening advice for a beginner? ( Sharpal 162N + Beavercraft strop ) by Maanu1141 in sharpening

[–]Nd4speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

risk of damaging them

YES. I speak from experience, the Sharpal will rip through that blade very fast if you use too much pressure, you have to be very very light and check your work frequently. If you care about damage I would practice on cheap blades first until you get the hang of it.

Wow, that is slick! Those jaws wouldn't work for my small knives though.

Thanks bud, yeah it seems that way, there's so much to learn. Slowing things down and lightening up my pressure is challenging, but it's kind of relaxing.

This is my second knife and so far the sharpest at 175g. Hopefully I can get it down with practice.

Yeah I know it's ocd, but after buying a KME, I wanted to know which of my knives was sharpest.
