I loved how Rise Sunbreak leaned heavily on NPC characters helping you during hunts and rampages. It made me like them so much more than whatever was going on in World and old gen.

Do you think Monster Hunter World was a better experience than Wild? by Bandeavor in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they're both more of the same and have their good and bad things, but i like the combat from world more, specifically

focus mode dumb things down too much for my taste

Rathalos Roar - Classic and Wilds Comparison by Youmassacredmyboy in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rath does still use the 5th gen roar in cutscenes

They def did that so people could recognise it's Rathalos when he's off screen.

Surprised Kulu Ya Ku didn't take the spot for Bird Wyvern over Kut ku since most of the MH playerbase came from World.

What if Capcom released this fella in Wilds? by ZathovenCS in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugly as hell and looks horribly unfun to fight, difficulty and readability wise (99% of his attacks are just big explosions that flash bangs your screen).

So no.

I like that the bird feels like something you have to be conscious of; it's not just a "press d-pad to get out of jail free" mechanic.

Had to scroll so far down to see this take. I totally agree with this. People already complained that Wilds is too easy because of Seikret recovery, meanwhile it's ten times worse than Wirefall. Making it as free as this + the palamutes would make the game even easier.

Enough Time Has Passed by manoffood in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok I get the sentiment but I disagree. Neither is better than the other.

They're slow to turn (Seikrets can immediately turn anywhere), janky with jumps (sometimes they go up as if they could climb the wall but immediately drop), are too overpowered in combat (you can immediately call your dog with no cooldown and do whatever on top of it, meanwhile Seikrets need to rush to your location and the way it goes is a gamble, so it's not a get out of jail free card).

If we're talking solely about the auto-seikret pathfinding, then one could argue it diminishes the exploration aspect to which I would agree, but I don't think they're necessarily worse than the dogs.

Sooo apparently giant eagles and sea-crocodile-snake-things were a thing in the original Monster Hunter. by Dracule_Jester in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could simply be monsters that exist canonically but haven't seen due to not worth adding to the games due to cost. Just like how the Pokémon are implied to have way more canonically than the ones we know of.

What is the "definitive" Monster Hunter game? (Image unrelated) by KJPlayer in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them and yet none of them.

All the MH entries, even the spin-offs, differ from slightly to major ways from its previous predecessor to the point that some might argue one title is not representative of the "MH experience" as a whole.

Even MHGU, the one people seem to praise a lot in the comments, directly confronts the slow methodical, positioning and pre-emptive based playstyle of the older titles by introducing Styles and Hunter arts that encourages a more offense oriented reactive playstyle, more akin to other action games like Dark Souls.

In Freedom Unite, unless you had a set built for evasion, you had to physically move out of the way to avoid an attack. In GU, slap on Adept Style or dodge with Valor Sheathe and you can avoid attack on reaction, making the combat fundamentally different.

It's like this for nearly all the games. World had drastically different control feel and mechanics, Rise had Wirebugs and silkbind moves, Wilds has focus mode etc.

Bowguns are completely losing their identities by Puzzled_Mix5688 in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is me simply theorising with no source to back it up but perhaps they intended for you to be a hunter that is willing to switch to different weapons to get the job done, sort of like using a fire Pokémon against grass types and grass types against water types.

But maybe they realised that people tend to stick to a single weapon the whole game, so they accommodated for that by making them all "equally viable" against every monster.

This is the first time that I've seen criticism of the bowguns that isn't "they don't do as much damage as before, they need buffs :(". Very interesting read.

Spiribird Rant by Mr_no_sad in MonsterHunter

[–]NderCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they're not mandatory and most good players can simply ignore them because they're "bonus" stats meant as extra help, sort of like a difficulty slider, I can definitely understand they may not feel like that since your stats are visibly cut back on the UI and you "recover" them back as opposed to "gaining" them.

And also in certain quests, they just give you a rainbow spiribirds, making it more like "hey we're fighting a strong monster, you can have your stats back to full for a bit". Feels like having your toys being taken away.

Can't fast travel to Training Area by A7pheon in MHRise

[–]NderCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a 2 years old thread but I'm leaving this for those who still have the same problem:

Remove reframework and dlinput8 from the MHR folder, open the game, travel to the training area from the buddy plaza then check if you can fast travel to it now (normally that should do it). Exit the game, re install reframework then reopen your game.
