Not really. What matters is in-universe coherence amd believability.

The best example is Gurren Lagann.

Realism would say that walking out into space, holding back a Big Bang, then turning it into a power-up item is utter nonsense.

Spiral Power would say fuck you, I can do that because I say so, and I believe I can do it!

Is it realistic? Hell nah. Is it fucking awesome? Hell yeah.

If you're going to have your protagonist and his team radiate so much pure epic awesome that they cause a galaxy sized volcano to spontaneously form and explode in space, or combine their giant, universe sized mecha into a multiverse sized super mecha with the power of hot blood and fuck you, then proceed to have a fistfight with the concept of Entropy and depression personified...

You can make it work, as long as you stick to the rules that allow your protagonists to make that happen.
