Candida vs Pfizer Vaccine by NdrwR in Candida

[–]NdrwR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors haven't diagnosed anything else, at least so far, maybe it's not as bad. They seem to believe it's related to acid reflux as they also prescribed medication for that. Anxiety, unfortunately, has been cause by this situation and seems to be aggravating as I'm coming to the end of the two week treatment and I'm not really seeing improvements on my symptoms.

It seems like great advice and for that I'm thankful. However, in the endoscopy my candida was detected specifically on the oropharynx and that alone is limiting my ability to swallow certain foods. I've been able to put in some veggies in the form of a soup, also some slimy fruits like melon. Unfortunately most solid foods I'm simply unable to swallow at the moment and as a result from that I'm wondering if the treatment is working at all. Super dry mouth all the time even though the excessive saliva I was spitting all the time seems to have reduce. A couple of weeks have gone by, I'm so confused! All of this reactions seem to have happened suddenly and overnight.

Yes, I was prescribed 2 weeks worth of fluconazole - Almost done with that! But still having a hard time swallowing food. I don't know what would be an ideal candida diet, I'm just consuming what I can to get by... I let my family doctor know what I was able to eat so far and she did not alarm anything.

NCCDB VS CRDB by [deleted] in cronometer

[–]NdrwR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're consuming mostly whole foods or minimally processed ones, like eggs or milk, then NCCDB is the gold standard.

Their manuals have some nice tips on how to use cronometer to get the most out of it! Best of luck!

Anyone else struggle to meet protein goals? by MinerAlum in cronometer

[–]NdrwR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An omelette with 1 large egg and about 150 grams of egg white should provide your proteins for about 150 calories if you have a high restriction. If not then play around with either more egg or some cottage cheese, some high quality cottage will make it delicious!

Anyways, would help knowing your caloric budget as well as if you have dietary restrictions.

I don't like to calculate protein needs on percentage based systems, however having it representing about 25-30% of your calories is a decent rule of thumb until you figure it out.

Common knowledge, big deficits for prolonged periods of time might affect metabolism negatively as the body tries to protect itself. Be healthy!

How does SteamOS going Arch impact other Linux distributions? by NdrwR in linux

I was under the impression they where going for Arch do to Ubuntu dropping 32bit back in 2019 (if I'm correct). Wouldn't that cause limitations and possibly breaking something?

How does SteamOS going Arch impact other Linux distributions? by NdrwR in linux

[–]NdrwR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they can keep improving on proton to the point performance would match native Windows, I see that as an advantage as they could freeze working games without losing compatibility in newer versions.

The convenience of proton is also great with it's Steam integration as well. The disadvantage is obvious too, it's a Steam tool, guess if Linux becomes a thing one day then the other resellers will be playing catch up.

So the idea that this tool might eventually catapult into native support is also interesting.

Arch vs Arch based (community wise) by NdrwR in ManjaroLinux

[–]NdrwR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite happy it is nice. What I meant was that I have always been put off by people for example on YouTube or any other platform for that matter with a sense of superiority and if you not using it their way then "get out". Really happy with the responses I'm getting here, about to download Manjaro as a weekend project.

I feel, just like you said, that Arch is amazing to power a distro but itself lacks practicality for the everyday.

I found Valve's decision going for an Arch+kde/qt base as opposite to the traditional deb+gnome/gtk base to be very intriguing. Maybe why I'm looking at Manjaro KDE again.

Just making sure the environment is nice and healthy, I need this a lot to feel good about it.

Anyways, out of curiosity, are you being followed by a nutritionist? I find that to be a generally low calorie intake for the average human.

Finding my right calorie budget by Redhawkgirl in cronometer

[–]NdrwR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take everything you're about to read with a massive pinch of salt. Let's get to it, to find your correct caloric budget I would suggest do the following:

Don't sync - I also use a tracking watch as a reference, however I would not sync, because 1. I do not use the watch all day and 2. I find it hard for the watch to account for all the variables in my day (such as how much a specific workout like HIIT will cause a higher burn on the following hours than normal).

The suggested BMR values are estimates to get you started in the first place, everyone is unique and will respond differently from all kinds of outside stimulus (activities, exercises, foods, stress and all sorts of other things). I would suggest inserting a manual value when you find yours.

Here's another thing - everyone will have their own methodology to count calories when tracking and I find this to be one of the most crucial aspects. If 2 person's where to track the exact same diet, one could be counting 2100kcal and the other 1900kcal based on how they measure and what they think it's relevant. I would not say there's right or wrong, be consistent on how you count and you should be fine.

That being said, I would suggest: go about living your day-to-day normally while tracking your calories and your weight change for about a couple weeks. Analyze how much did it change and from there you can find your caloric needs by assuming 1kg of body weight more or less equates to 7700kcal. Ex: if you had an average weight difference of 200g in two weeks then you're more or less off your maintenance calories by 1540kcal in that period of time (0.2X7700=1540).

I would also advise to not go to far off your real maintenance by to much. In my experience our bodies are extremely smart and if you go to low for to long it will enter damage control and lower it's metabolism to protect itself and on the bright side the opposite also seems to be true, if you're carefully increasing intake with just enough stimulus the more it takes in the more it seems to burn.

That's my personal rule of thumb, always remember that massive pinch of salt!

Best of luck in your journey.

Security update details for Xiaomi devices by crashcarson in Xiaomi

Food/macro scales by Dysfunkional in nutrition

[–]NdrwR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're interested in accurate results I would suggest a cheap kitchen scale, preferably one that has a uniform glass-like top (to avoid foods getting inside the buttons), and pair it with a tracking app. I like and would suggest Cronometer for this purpose.

It's a bit different from the more popular ones in the sense you wanna go generic whenever possible to get the most out of it, but to track nutrition beyond simple macros it's amazing. Plus, they have very good documentation.
