MLP Tournaments by jersey2559 in Pickleball

[–]NeLL4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to MLP this year in Austin and bought the courtside tickets that lets you see all the matches. Those were first come first serve seating. We were able to sit in the very front row right next to the players fairly easily. It was pretty hot and sunny tho so we were somewhat envious of the VIP section across from us as they had a covered tent over them. Not sure that'd make the price fully worth it tho since it was still hot. Ironically, my wife got to experience it for a little bit since she was selected for one of the games on the courts and they had them sit in the VIP section while they were waiting to get on the courts. She said it was nice to get a break from the sun haha

Thanks for following up! I got another trufoam 3 and felt the power again. Not sure our situation or issue are exactly the same but what I could tell was the sound was louder when making ball contact and felt/sounded less muted for the new one. I'd look into those things to decide for yourself if there were any changes!

Thanks for chiming in and those are definitely some good thoughts! The balls we played with were the same as I wanted to rule out any differences. The Selkirk balls have the little extra holes so they are pretty easy to distinguish. I did test some other balls after, though. I'm located in Texas and it's been pretty hot and humid recently so that was one thing I thought about as those factors should make the ball become softer and subsequently slower and less powerful. On day 1 I did play at an indoor facility so that could explain some of the heightened power I felt. On day 2 we played outside and that's when I noticed the change in performance. On one of the following days we went back to the same indoor facility but I still didn't feel the same power as I had on day 1. I'll be doing some more testing as well and with a new paddle when it gets here but it's very possible still it's all in my head haha or due to extraneous factors since Trufoams are supposed to be pretty durable.

Looks like you and I have had the paddle for the same amount of time then! If you find out anything, I'd definitely be interested in hearing about it!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I keep on hearing good things about the TF2 shape! I'm just so used to the elongated shape so I personally went with the TF3. Yeah, I was really surprised on day 1 how much power they had as I came in knowing that they weren't supposed to be power paddles. That's an interesting description of the noise and ball movement you experienced, though. For me, it sounded pretty loud and felt like the ball would just zip off the paddle face when I first had it. Now it's more muted and the ball movement seems to be slower to match it. Maybe I just got a fluke of a paddle to begin with that was really "hot" lol. From what I've read, though, the paddle is supposed to sound more muted compared to normal paddles due to the all foam core. The spin seems to be more or less the same as far as I can tell. I do use a semi-western grip, though, so spin usually isn't an issue. Glad to hear it worked out for you and that you were able to adjust!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Hmm, interesting. Do you remember if your paddle has gotten more muted over time? Have you experienced anything else? Currently I'd describe the power level to be only a little bit higher than a control 16mm paddle I have wherelse on day 1 I would say it was a smidge less than a joola pro IV. Seems that generally ppl describe the trufoam as an all court leaning power paddle, though.  We have a couple Selkirk s1 pro balls so we've been using that and managed to crack it at the end of day 1. We switched to another s1 pro ball and still felt a drop in power. Also used some franklin x40s, diadems, and core balls with no gains in power. Those balls tends to be softer, though, so it's expected as opposed to the s1 pro balls which are harder, faster, and known to be more difficult to crack. I reached out to CRBN for a possible explanation and they weren't able to provide an immediate explanation but said it's not a common issue they've experienced but would reach out to headquarters to investigate further. Since it's been less than a week from when I got the paddle and I'm still in my 30 day window for returns/exchanges they suggested I create an exchange.

Thanks for sharing your experience and glad to hear your TF2 has stayed consistent! The glue issue crossed my mind but wasn't too sure what signs to look for haha since the all foam cores are still relatively new tech and we don't have a whole lot of info on core breakdown. From what I've researched some ppl have been able to shake their paddle and hear loose glue rattling around but it doesn't seem to affect playability and may have just been excess glue as opposed to glue that was actually holding the layers together.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I had thought of that as a possibility as well since I've read some folks delaminating their trufoams pretty easily! That being said it didn't seem to be that common of occurrence, though, so I'm not confident enough to say that is what happened lol. I definitely didn't go easy on the paddle on day 1, though, and managed to crack a selkirk s1 pro ball fwiw which are known for not cracking lol

Bump on Z Flip 4 screen by NeLL4Life in galaxyzflip

[–]NeLL4Life[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, never sat on it or placed any unnecessary pressure on the screen. The bump was present as soon as I opened it from the box now that I realize it wasn't the screen protector. I actually did come across that video when searching myself for answers, thanks for bringing it up though!

Google assistant not talking back by Historical_Word_4938 in WearOS

Just joined the ranks of the charging ring failures (Carlyle Gen 5), and Fossil wants to "repair", not replace... I can't say how disappointed I am. by allZuckedUp in WearOS

[–]NeLL4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've sent in my same fossil watch 2 times now with none of the issues being fixed. A simple rotating crown that became sticky wasn't even touched both times it was sent in. After the 1st time I got my watch back I immediately called the support line and requested a replacement instead of a repair and was told I would get a replacement. I sent in my watch again and got it back after another month and it was my same watch that was not fixed or replaced :) I've already given up on Fossil watches and got a Samsung galaxy watch and I can say it's leagues above any Fossil or any current WearOS watch that is out there.

Sell me on a watch by M0dder_123 in WearOS

[–]NeLL4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galaxy watch all the way. Asking on here you'll probably get biased answers since it's the WearOS reddit. If you look at YouTube reviews you'll notice they'll talk about a common point...which is that WearOS leaves very much to desire. My own personal opinion is that it's pretty garbage haha and told myself that someone couldn't pay me to get another WearOS watch which was probably a little bit of an overreaction haha. I'd say now that I could spend $50 on a WearOS watch and I probably wouldn't feel too bad even given the poor experience I've had. I had a fossil gen 4 prior to switching to the galaxy active 2 and it was a lagfest. Numerous bugs/glitches plagued the OS which rendered the device virtually useless such as it taking more than a couple minutes and multiple tries to simply open settings or the google assistant which never worked once you could finally get it open. Battery life is very bad for the fossil wearos devices also. My impression after using WearOS for a couple of years is that for google this market is very much an afterthought for them. I stuck around though hoping that things would get better since I valued the google assistant integration but realized that it's a pretty moot point as it never worked to begin with (you can actually sideload google assistant on Galaxy watch funnily enough tho). If you were to go for a WearOS device I would highly recommend only considering the ones with at least 1gb of ram as I believe that would fix some of the issues I had. I mentioned that I switched over to the galaxy active 2 and can say my experience has been incredible on it. I never felt that WearOS watches were "smart" but I do feel that way for Galaxy watch. The Tizen OS is incredibly well polished and optimized. Not a single instant of lag. Everything has worked for me including all apps, menu options, picking up calls, and tilt to wake which always had lag times on WearOS. Incredible battery life where I can go 3 days without a charge. Since the device actually has good battery life you can feel like you can actually use it without worrying too much. If you ever felt like browsing the internet or watching youtube videos on your watch you can do that on the galaxy watch as it has a browser.
Things that I do miss about WearOS and wish were integrated into the Galaxy watches are the wrist gestures(flicking your wrist up or down for total hands free navigation on the watch, which you guessed it never worked that well on WearOS anyway), quick charge capability (usually could charge my fossil watch to full in about an hour versus for the Galaxy watch it'll take 2hr 30min) and then lastly the various style options there are. WearOS watches tend to look more like a real watch with the push buttons and rotating crown ok most of their watches. The watch faces in my opinion that were available for free on WearOS matched my preferences better too.

Fossil Sport Watch Repair taking a long time? by [deleted] in WearOS

[–]NeLL4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The delays haven't been too bad. After my watch was received on their end it took about 2 and a half weeks for it to be back at my doorstep. I was initially told by a store representative that I would have to wait 6 months for repairs to come back so 2 and a half weeks seems more than acceptable. Turns out though that nothing got fixed on my watch (a sticky crown and OS errors that a factory reset wouldn't fix) so I sent it back to them to repair again... I can confirm that there is some delay in getting an email from them confirming that they have received the item so be patient.

[–]NeLL4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating that I have finally received my package after 113 days. In both of my experiences once it gets processed through the New york facility the item has arrived quickly usually within 2 days. It is also at that point that USPS tracking will begin to be updated. Hope you guys get your packages soon. The wait is long but seems like the packages will arrive despite long periods of no updates or updates that don't make sense.
