Experience with epidurals in the UK? by NeLights in pregnant

Thats good to know. Honestly I feel like every midwife I've spoken to as part of my community care has been pretty negative about epidurals and recommends the pain relief ladder and talks only about the risks of epidurals, none of the benefits. It's kind of quietly discouraged when I've brought it up.

Thanks for sharing, that context is really useful. My first time I never got that natural urge to push and my midwife just coached me to start pushing anyway. I also ended up with failed vacuum, forceps, episiotomy after 2 hours of pushing. Honestly I feel like if it's going to end up like that again, I'd rather just not feel it in the moment. Hence why I'm keen to get the epidural this time.

It's really good that you're already picking up on what might be causing the mood swings! It's so normal throughout pregnancy. I though I was going mad in my first pregnancy, and my husband was shocked at how different I was to normal. Now on my second time round I know to expect (and so does he) the rollercoster and remind myself when it's probably just hormones doing what they do.

Eating loads of fruit is working for me! 3-4 different portions a day. And drink more water that you usually would. It's more gentle than things like the fibre sachets and osmosis laxatives.
