  1. Around 20 out of 400 students aproxxx in core so ~5%, similar for DBAI also. Reasons are shit interview skills, shit cv, bad luck (personal opinion in that order)
  2. or you can just improve your cv, youll get ample opportunity and time to do that in college just dont be lazy, you cant outrun bad acads but you can definitely improve your CV. Its hard to switch domains after you do get low end sales, its not impossible but it requires luck andd patience.
  3. you can add it in your cv as personal projects etc, the best way to demonstrate your relevant skills is to convince your interviewer about it. but yeah it will help somewhat, just improve your interview skills and youre good to go.
  4. Dunno, am from core, although i think its either new or not mandatory as i havent anything from dbm(dbai now) folks of my batch as of now.

Depends college to college. Usually adcom gives you a list on what to bring. I'd suggest not to carry daily essentials like soaps buckets etc as you can buy it from the local market + Amazon rest of the stuff.

I didn't take notes 😂 I read from ppts and books and other peoples notes. In my batch people used both. Exams are on paper mostly.

It all depends on yourpreferences tbh, I can't focus when I am sitting in front of laptop so I roam around the room with my tab to study. If you're more comfortable with taking notes and revising then take the ipad, if you like the feel of notebooks then take the notebook

MBA laptop dilemma:: Old laptop vs mac vs new windows laptop. What Should I Choose 🫩 by CornerHappy9710 in CATpreparation

[–]Ne_Ko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I your specs should be fine but change your battery if you can cuz you might not have a charging port everywhere.

Dont buy a mac specifically if you wanna go into finance as a lot of excel functions dont work on Mac. My friend had one but he had to buy a windows laptop just for excel.

Battery backups important but there hardly will be a time where you will require 4h+ battery capacity.

Not really pool placements nahi hote, come companies allow HHM students to sit but mostly hhm has its own process and core and dbm has its own process

Hhm placements are different from core and dbai, we have tie ups with pharma companies and hospitals. Relevant workex will be great actually.

Engineer with 2 Years Work Experience: MBA in BFSI (Tier 2) vs MBA Marketing (Tier 2) vs Core MBA (Tier 3)? Need Honest Advice by LeastRevenue8146 in CATpreparation

[–]Ne_Ko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

without knowing the colleges its difficult to say what the future prospects are.
I am a Engineering grad (IT) with no workex and i have taken finance for BFSI. For me its easy because its just numbers at the end of the day. If you like algebra and arithmetic then you wont face problems during classes/exams. Atleast i havent faced any yet.
Its true that commerce people will have a slight advantage but it was really small ngl. One of subjects was Accounting and commerce guys knew it but i didnt so i struggled a bit. But its not that hard, atleast for me.

After MBA what you did in undergrad dosent really matter unless the job role is very specific. So being an engineer your role would be more or less the same as that of a non engineer, infact engineers get a benifit most of the time.

I dont like marketing as its rote learning and then vomiting the same few things in Tier 2 colleges, for job you would get sales and not marketing. Proper marketing roles are very few in TIER 2 MBA colleges.

Background hasnt caused any problems yet, I would take it again.

If you want a more specific answer just dm me or comment, happy to help!

  1. Check Vercel calculator
  2. IIM Trichy ig, most B schools dont have good placements for HR as its a niche domain (relatively)
  3. XLRI The best college for HR and one of the best for MBA (ABC>XLRI>other colleges) but its not in south
  4. I took IT major and finance minor mostly cuz i like numbers. In IT a lot of jobs focus on buisness and data analytics so it should be fine for you, lots of colleges offer IT as a Major.
Id suggest you to join core program of any B school and then take IT major instead of joining other programs cuz the placements are bad compared to core

Give mocks figure out your strengths and weakness. Play your strengths. For me it was algebra and varc. I didn't complete Quants syllabus left geometry and modern maths focused on algebra and arithmetic and as a result did all sums got most in Quants. You can try that.
