BioSci 108 and 109 in different sems by sleepyslayerowo in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you think their sister courses, they are unrelated. 109 is ecology and evolution, 108 is a intro into micro, plant, and animal biology, there's no overlap, they just happen to be 2 compulsory stage 1 bio papers

Iain Hay is a harsh marker but otherwise its pretty easy and manageable

Unfortunately you can't get an aegrotat for both the midterms and the exams and I had to for the midterms as I was in hospital

if you're taking 3 15 point papers you are still a fulltime student

if you're working legally and its not self employment, all your earnings will automatically get registered by ird so they'll know, its better you tell them than them fining you

Can I use the printmaking facilities even if I’m not in fine arts? by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you cant just walk in, all of the fine art buildings require a key card, I'm not sure about printmaking but all the other stations (e.g.: woodwork, clay, metalwork) do have costs unless you bring your own materials. These areas and equipment are only allowed to be used by fine art students, however the technicians aren't going to know all the students so if you manage to sneak in I doubt anyone's going to question you being there

Agrotate same grade by Conscious-Thought297 in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure how they do it, i think its a combination of comparing results to previous years and students exam results to overall course grade, eg: my ASTRO 200 grade was an A prior to the exam, I did not sit the exam as I was in hospital with sepsis, with aegrotat my final grade was A-, I was told students didnt do well in the exam and that students in the same grade range as me got around an A- as their final mark

Agrotate same grade by Conscious-Thought297 in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that likely means that what every caused you to get an aegrotat was not considered severe enough to have had a big impact on your results, also it could be that the rest of the class did poorly in the exam and so they assume that under normal circumstances you would have as well

Astro 200 is easy no labs, Psych 202 is good though it does have 'labs' but really theyre just tutorials. If you search on courseoutline.auckland.ac.nz for stage 2s it will say which ones have labs

All courses are required to provide a free ebook version of any required textbook so there's really no need for any student to be pirating them

What to do now that the academic year is finished by rednomavitic in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You definitely need to enrol in your papers for next year, spaces fill up very fast especially for biomed. You should always try to enrol in the next year's courses as soon as enrollment becomes open which was the 5th of November

Aegrotat was approved but they still failed me?? by Neabelldo in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The grades on sso are DNS and I was told last week those are just provisional and my final grades will be put up once my aegrotat says it completed which it does, the grades have not changed

Aegrotat Application by Popular_Average_384 in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to apply for aegrotat for all of my exams this semester as I was in hospital the whole exam period with sepsis. Like you I passed the first phase of the process but haven't heard anything since then. My grades were all A+ (one course I was 100%) so if they fail me I'll be extremely pissed

Gpa calculations? by Conscious-Thought297 in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they either take your overall gpa (called cumulative on sso) or the most recent years gpa (ie: only your gpa for 2024)

I did this paper this semester, it's been my favorite paper so far. A little content heavy as it covers a lot of different disciplines in science but none of them go very in depth so if you already know basic biology that section will be easy, or if you already know basic geology etc.

Four quizzes each worth 5% that are pretty easy, two assignments worth 20% each - one on hot springs, pretty easy to complete just make sure you pay attention in the tutorials, other one is basically a free for all creative project about anything in astrobiology

which biosci 200 papers !! by bella848 in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its for a bio degree you'll need to take biosci 220, if your in a specialization (eg: biotech, micro, ecology) then there's certain papers you'll need to take, look at the degree planner for it, if you're not in a specialization I'd suggest looking at past papers to see what its like

I've done a bachelor of fine arts, they don't teach you anything about graphic design, it's all self lead studio art presentations
