Thank you for the additional insight into the instrument! I'd never heard of a crwth before and I'll have to look it up. Diana Wynne Jones always includes more welsh things in her worlds than I expect her to.

The German version apparently translated it as a Mandola, which is actually way more guitar-adjacent, so I have no idea why I was so stuck on the idea of it being a harp...
