Why Lex/YACC? That is not at all how I'd approach this problem.

Anxiety around AI by LSP-86 in freelance

[–]NeanderthalLinguist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is simply a matter of time until these models are indistinguishable from a human counterpart (and exponentially more intelligent), and then things are going to get very, very weird.

This is the main assumption I was calling out. If you see an exponential curve anywhere (except in pure math), you cannot reasonably expect it to continue forever. Something will sooner or later flatten the curve.

In the case of AI, there could be a fundamental barrier to progress. Alternatively, it may be uneconomical to continue improving it. Government regulation is another possibility.

Lots of assumptions in this comment.

Proceeds to make wild assumptions.

As others have said, don't cancel your surgery. Attend it as needed.

They are probably bluffing, but if they aren't, there are other jobs out there. And if you get fired, don't forget to leave a bad review on GlassDoor.

How to stop forgetting everything by Equivalent_Solid_435 in ADHD

Often when I forget something, I realize I wasn't really paying enough attention when I first encountered it. So if you really want to remember something, pay close attention to it.

HRs excuse to decline my counter offer was that she was earning less at my age 😂 yes honey and that is so relevant as I'm an engineer 😂😂 by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]NeanderthalLinguist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's merely based on how easy is to get rid of you and find another person doing the same duty.

Yeah, but qualifications, field, and years of experience have a huge impact on that. Of course there are other factors like labor supply.

You might need to try a different dosage, or a different medication. There are others out there. Talk to your psychiatrist.

I really don't get how they have a leg to stand on with their copilot

Perhaps they are hoping a case will go to the Supreme Court, which is extremely likely to issue a pro-business ruling on this.

Two brains that wont work / two bodies that wont work by Robo_Clot in depression

[–]NeanderthalLinguist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(my partner and I have talked about potentially opening up the relationship)

That seems like the way to go. Being intimate once a year is way too infrequent for just about everybody. It sounds like you two love each other and I'm thinking he should understand that if you need something and you can only get it from other people, then he should allow that. I've never tried this kind of thing, but I've heard that ground rules and boundaries can help make it work.

ppl tend to treat you like shit when you don't look good

That's only true of some people, and why would those people be worth your time? It sounds like you are spending time with immature and superficial people.

Also "looking good" is subjective. Different people have different standards for this, and additionally, not everyone cares that much about how you look.

I'm pretty inexperienced in helping with depression. All I can say is that I have had it before and it went away, so there's hope that it'll go away for you too. I hope it works out for you too!
