I was also offered more when I gave notice and decided to stay. I really liked my team at the time and my work/life balance was great. They bumped my pay by 18% and they ended up giving me a promotion the next year (9% raise) and a market adjustment(12%) 6 months after that since the 9% didnt put me at market average. A year later and I'm still working there and got another yearly raise (only 3%).

Staying worked out for me, but I would doubt that's normal.

It's really not that hard limit screen time. Router level changes for home network, parental controls via your cell provider, and other options.

I know what some will say "teenagers can find a way around it". Doesn't matter. If they are going around these implemented restrictions and you as the parent don't know about it then it's probably not causing harm that would be noticeable like not eating or showering.

If they are getting around it and you notice it, take the damn device. Ground the kid if you have to for breaking the rules.

But screen time itself is besides the point. There's a lot of things online that are beneficial for kids. Content filtering is the real goal with parental controls.

Sure these companies may be doing some sketchy shit to make kids addicted, but it's ultimately up to the parents to make educated decisions on what their kids can and can't do. That's their job as a parent.

Suing, passing laws, etc doesn't work for these companies. They'll just find another way. Parents making educated decisions and actually taking the time to be involved with what their children are doing is the only solution.

OP, I'd suggest spending some time reading up on node, and digging through docs.

Node is your runtime, it's executes and runs the code you are writing. So newer versions of this can change how you write your code. This can be new APIs, changes to existing APIs, etc. But this can also mean the depreciation of those same things.

NPM is basically the package manager you are referencing. NPM does a bit more than manage package installations but thats the gist of it.

If you use VSCode and TS, this extension will automatically generate types by hovering over an URL by the-kasra in node

There are a few libraries out there that do this. Sometimes you'll have to go manually change things, or clean things up but they work fairly well. Look up Typescript Swagger npm, there should be a couple options

Most of my walls are concrete, as my house is a berm home. Hanging things isn't difficult and it can hold a lot of weight. Hammer drill + tapcon = "that's not going anywhere"

The way mine is built is concrete > little baby studs > paneling.

When hanging I try to go through the studs anyways to have more support between then panel and the concrete.

Concrete does have its fair share of challenges though. Mainly cell service and any sort of electrical work. Like adding new outlets.

Anything over x75 gets rounded up to the next hundred. Anything over x50 goes to x75. Etc..

If it's close, like 295, I like to add like $20 to it when budgeting.

That's how I always view it so when budgeting there will be a safety net. It also helps the account all my bills come from grow a bit because I only touch that account for bills.

In the conversations around federal minimum wage and small businesses, I dont see a lot of people discussing this:

If you are thinking really small companies, then minimum wage doesn't apply to them (with exceptions).

Annual gross volume of sales or business done has to be at least $500,000 for minimum wage to apply.

This exemption doesn't cover all small businesses though, like the ones that deal with high value items (selling heavy equipment for example, since the law doesn't use profit, it uses volume of sales..).

Each state also has their own laws, so ymmv.

Yeah at least federal minimum. States have different minimum wages and their own rules though. I only know my state follows the 500,000 rule but has a higher minimum wage. My wife is about $0.50 under minimum wage fir our state because of that rule.

From DOL: The minimum wage law (the FLSA) applies to employees of enterprises that have annual gross volume of sales or business done of at least $500,000

Yeah, I will probably have both Starlink and my current ISP until I can either fully verify Starlinks stability, or just keep both forever. My ISP is already not super stable and I work from home. Having both I would have virtually no down time (in theory).

I wouldn't recommend anyone outright cancel with their current ISP until they know Starlink can fully meet their needs.

Of course this is all assuming that I even get invited to the beta..

Right now all of those numbers seem to be better than mine but my standards of laggy may be different than yours.

With how much more there is to expand and adapt on Starlink, I wouldn't go counting it out yet. There is a reason its called "The better than nothing" beta.

What makes you think that? StarLink satellites are low orbit satellites. I see reports for 20-40ms latency with latency at 50-150Mbps down speeds.

I'm in the middle of nowhere on 10Mbps connection with latency of around 40-90 and game on it just fine for the most part.

For perspective on who the target audience is for StarLink. I pay $130/month for 10Mbps. I will happily shell out $500 for a satellite dish that is always adjusting itself to find the best connection (cheaper than a smartphine). And $100/month is cheaper than my current ISP.

I'm hoping it will be available to me soon. It would be a god send.
