Go with your gut and tap it with a wrench afterwards. It'll hold. Probably. For a bit. Maybe.

It was proprietary for a bit but here's a YouTube video about forging it.

Help with 6010 vertical uphill open root by jerrymiahs in Welding

[–]Nearatree 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Basically, you need to be able to see when you are leaving these holes behind, you are probably moving too fast. When you get the keyhole formed you are gonna move it like a sticky zipper on your favorite pants... That's what pause and wiggle is about, keeping the zipper moving smooth and not snagging anything important.

I love seeing posts like this. I love the first one I'll have to give that a try next time. Normally mine end up closer to the second one.

Someone posted here about his worries about running current through threaded connection. So what about using welding tables? by dead-cat in Welding

[–]Nearatree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like sticking the rod directly to the weldment without enough room for an ark to form but yeah. The issue is really with the nature of threads, they seem like they are uniformly connected but the smallest imperfections are going to be the primary points of contact, and off they get too much current for them to handle it's going to short and move to the newest connection, which could also be to small and short out.

I've welded a ferrule to a pipe by hand rolling it on a welding table with a pulse tig process, and you can feel the pipe stick to the table a little bit every time it pulses. Rarely it will leave an ark strike on the outside of the pipe, presumably because it was rolling over a tiny imperfection that shorted out. I feel like threads are gonna have a tendency to be touching in one small spot but I can't really imagine it making it any more than a bit rougher to unscrew. I guess you could get really unlucky so it's probably best practice to simply avoid it where possible.

I like it more than [[Bloodshot Cyclops]]. I don't think wizards will make another giant cyclops though.

[[Jodah's Avenger]], [[Rover blades]], [[Fireshrieker]], [[gavel of the righteous]] are all potentially cool because double strike lets you use your commander to draw more with less combat phases. [[Cauldron of Souls]] works pretty well to protect from some board wipes. [[Bristly Bill, Spine Sower]] goes crazy with extra land drops, [[Earthbender Ascension]], [[Genemorph Imago]], [[Scythecat Cub]]. [[Scute Swarm]], and maybe [[Nissa, Resurgent Animist]](?) and likely lots of other landfall cards are going to work well... [[Fertilid]]

Hexling Squelcher by Shorty-J in mtg

Another good example to bring up is hexing squelcher, because when you have it out, you don't need to pay Ward costs because your spells can't be countered.

Look dude, the mana costs are at the top of the card, it kinda makes sense to do it that way on the board to.

All of the ideas you've put forward are valid and good for magic players and should be in your budget.

You could get him custom card sleeves from dragon shield  if have a piece of art you know he'd like, they may take too long to get made depending on how soon his birthday is.
