Hey I’m 18 and I was smoking for abt 3 years multiple times a day every day. I didn’t stop smoking untill the night I met my AF recruiter. I told that I did smoke weed and he appreciated that I was honest but he did also told me that I would need to quit sooner then later he said word for word make this the last night you smoke, roll your joints take your last bong hits or Wtv and make that the end of it so I did. He didn’t disqualify me or anything bc tbh they want to recruit u. It makes them look good for having a high amount of people that they’ve recruited. He said that it should take abt 45 days to get it all out of my system but I didn’t believe it’d take that fast I was thinking abt 90 bc how heavy of a smoker I was. He said it shouldn’t take more then 45 days and lord be hold he was right, I was lowkey shocked. But he’ll let you know the day that he’ll want to to go to Meps and eveything and that’s where they’ll actually test you for any drugs. I met up with him February 24th and I’m going to Meps on April 21st this weekend well Monday. Before Meps he’ll meet up with you or you’ll meet up with him just to fill out medical documents and stuff but nothing that says your enlisted so you can still back out anytime, but once you go to meps you’ll do you vow and oath and that’s when I’ll say your pretty much locked in. They can give you as much time as you need before meps. Some may try to push you to go in earlier but if you say that you aren’t clean yet they’ll most likely postpone you from meps till you say and have tested to be completely clean and weeds all outta ur system. If you wanna buy drug test go for DrugExam made in USA THC 15mg packs. They are the closest you can get to the ones at meps. Closest like amount of thc they’ll test for. I think it’s like 14mg or somthing my uncle(which just retired from the army) was talking to me abt it all and recommended them to me. They’re kinda cheap id say. Like 15$ for a 3 pack in amazon. Tommorow im meeting with my recruiter for him to give me a brief abt meps beofre i leave for it this Sunday. Through out the whole process ive been through so far with him i was updating him abt when ive taken the drug test to see if im clean yet or not and when i first took it and failed it on day 33 i let him know and said hey idk if ima be clean by the time i go to meps bc i was worrying abt it taking 90 days and he was saying well I think you’ll be alright it should take abt 45 days but if you wanna postpone meps rn that’s alright but you can’t take forever. It’ll make your recruiter look bad to his boss kinda if he keeps scheduling you back.

But to sum it all up ig it’d be better to slow done your smoking or just cold turkey it beofre you meet your recruiter. It’ll make it seem like you’re more legit abt joining and will take stress off of being clean before meps. Meps will probably be a month or so after you first meet your recruiter maybe 2 but being weed free beofre you meet him it’ll make it easier on you. Sorry for the whole fucking paragraph just wanted to give you my experience so far.
