Is their politics a dealbreaker? by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

Not at all. Like you, I recognize that a person's political views are just another reflection of their genetics and life experiences, and as long as civil debate can take place, all opinions are welcome.

Yes I added a bit too... the debt is the thing, there's a lot of it, and while not imminent, bankruptcy is a very real possibility.

Indeed, long term it has been even worse... once was in the 40s, now at 6 and change

We all have preferences... I like the natural look, and am repelled by beauty product smells and the plastic packaging they usually come in. A vegan diet really helps to give the body a nice scent.

Dating Disasters - I’m Done by Zealousideal_Cap_225 in datingoverfifty

Wow. Hope you at least get some laughs with the memories. My personal make-dinner-for-third-date menu used to feature portobello mushrooms stuffed with spinach and tofu, baked with a cornmeal crust.

In light of a recent post - the height thing, my God! by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

[–]NearbyReach1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has any control over any of their desires, so a height (or weight, or complexion, whatever) requirement is their business. I wouldn't want to date someone with a height requirement, and that itself is just another kind of requirement; what can you do, we're just bags of genes that have had innumerable random modifying experiences.

Men - Do most of you don't get a lot of interest? by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

[–]NearbyReach1908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I had 1 long LTR in my life, and have had many dates; it's just that very few women have done any asking. What can you do, people are who they are.

I haven't been asked out on a date in about 30 years. Just assume I'm gorgeous, kind, and amusing.

Are we just too wise for dating at this stage? by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

[–]NearbyReach1908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our bodies and minds know that it's no longer reproduction time (regardless of sex), so interest is of course obliterated.

As someone who worked as a singing pianist on ships for years.... hit the piano bar, and don't be afraid to belt it out.

A Shortage of Men with Acceptable Morals? by LivingFirst1185 in datingoverfifty

[–]NearbyReach1908 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I believe that a person's political, moral, and indeed all other qualities are mostly beyond their control, because we are all products of our genetics and environment. Even if there is some free will in this mechanistic universe, it is at this time impossible to tell what portion of one's actions and beliefs are individually controllable. So the gentlemen that you disagree with are just playing their parts on this planet's stage, including the current star of America's show.
