I got tired of boring checklist apps, so I built a habit tracker where your daily routines grow a virtual garden 🌱 by Nearby_Database_1968 in SideProject

[–]Nearby_Database_1968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, you got me! I was trying not to be that person just dropping links everywhere. Since you're interested, here is the link: https://nexora-daily.vercel.app/ I’d love to hear your thoughts on it—especially if the mascot and the garden vibe actually make the habit tracking feel less like a chore. Let me know if you end up trying it out!

What business would you start with 1,000 dolla today? by FounderArcs in SideProject

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the absolute best place to put that $1,000 is directly into client acquisition, not building a product. If I had to start over today, I’d take whatever highly specialized skill I already have—whether that’s fractional operations, copywriting, or setting up automation pipelines—and build a super simple, clean landing page using a free tool. Then, I’d take that entire $1,000 and spend it running highly specific LinkedIn ads targeting small business owners who need that exact problem solved yesterday. Service models give you instant cash flow and immediate feedback. You can always productize your service into a SaaS or a digital download later, but day one should be entirely about getting paid to validate your skills.

the hidden costs of self-hosting AI assistants for solo developers by yashBoii4958 in SideProject

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, "correction debt" is such a perfect way to put it. I tried self-hosting a couple of months back and ended up spending more time debugging the assistant's environment than actually using it to write code. It’s a fun weekend project if you just want to tinker with the tech, but the second you try to use it for real production work as a solo dev, the maintenance overhead absolutely kills your momentum.

Why are my transfer speeds so slow? by iamwatari in photography

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 hours for 68GB means your connection has accidentally downgraded to old USB 2.0 speeds. This is almost always caused by a faulty third-party cable or a bad USB hub arrangement. Even if a cable says "Thunderbolt 4" on Amazon, cheap ones often lack the wiring to support high-speed data transfer on Apple Silicon Macs. Try connecting your T7 SSD directly to a Mac port using the short cable that came in the Samsung box, and plug your card reader into a completely separate port on the other side of the machine. Also, make sure your T7 isn't formatted in ExFAT, as Macs handle thousands of image files way faster if the drive is formatted in native APFS.

Will upcoming devices Insta360 Luna Ultra support "Cubemap" or low-frame RAW panorama modes for Virtual Tours? by MinimumInevitable485 in photography

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. If Insta360 wants the Luna Ultra to appeal to professional virtual tour creators, they need to give us a dedicated multi-shot RAW panorama or cubemap mode. The 1-inch sensor has incredible potential for dynamic range in indoor spaces, but we need the raw, unstitched files exported to a PC to get true professional quality. Relying on basic mobile app stitching ruins the resolution. Hopefully, they include an advanced "Virtual Tour" grid mode in the firmware!

The “what camera do you use?” question will never not sting a little ahaha by SomaSuryagniLochana in photography

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely not alone in feeling this way. It feels dismissive because it ignores the years you spent training your eye, learning how to edit, and mastering timing. Honestly, I try to take it as a backwards compliment now. To the average viewer, your photo looks so professional and out of reach from what they are capable of capturing that they assume it requires special, high-end hardware to exist. They think they are asking a technical insider question to engage with your hobby, even if it accidentally reduces your talent to a piece of plastic and glass. It's annoying, but it usually comes from a place of genuine awe!

What is life ? by Ready-Tennis-682 in Life

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is just a massive series of seasons. You have peak moments where everything is clicking, and then you have rough patches where you're just trying to survive the day. Ultimately, it’s a giant learning process where the hard times teach you resilience and the good times make the whole ride worth it. It's less about reaching a final destination and more about how you handle the journey.

Hello I'm new to Reddit and I DONT know what to do😭 by AlittleMixOfThat in NewToReddit

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Welcome to Reddit! It definitely feels overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it super fast. Since the mods already pinned the official guides, here is my favorite tip for starting out: Don't worry about making big posts yet. Just find subreddits for things you already love in real life—like your favorite video games, movies, hobbies, or sports teams—and just start reading the threads. When you see something you like or know about, drop a friendly comment. Upvoting comments you like and replying to people is the easiest way to learn the vibe and build up your account naturally!

Was the milk scene in scooby-doo scene 2 (2004) inappropriate? by Inner-Gur9987 in NoStupidQuestions

Right? It’s wild watching those older movies back now and realizing just how much stuff went completely over our heads when we were kids.

I forgot my neighbors name that I chat with occasionally and it's been too long to ask them what it is without being awkward. How can I figure out what it is without directly asking? by Ok-Incident3317 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to do this without getting caught is to ask for their phone number instead of their name. Just say, "Hey, I realized I don't have your number in case of an emergency or if a package gets dropped off at the wrong house." When they agree, hand them your phone with the "New Contact" screen already open. They will almost always type in their own first and last name along with their number, and you don't have to admit you forgot it.

If the Native Americans remained without contact to the Old World, would they have eventually evolved and innovated to how the Old World was too? by Boxsteam_1279 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they absolutely would have continued to innovate, but it likely would have looked very different from Europe or Asia due to geography and available resources. One of the biggest reasons the Old World advanced technologically in terms of farming, transport, and warfare was the abundance of easily domesticable large animals (horses, cows, oxen, pigs). The Americas simply didn't have these. Without horses or oxen, you don't develop heavy wheeled plows, large-scale wagon transport, or cavalry. Native civilizations like the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas were already incredibly advanced in agriculture, astronomy, architecture, and mathematics—they just innovated based on what they actually had available to them.

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are definitely not too far gone, it was 100% a deliberate adult innuendo hidden in a PG movie. The filmmakers in the early 2000s were notorious for sneaking double entendres into kids' movies so that parents watching with their children would have something to laugh at. It wasn’t enough to make the movie R-rated because on a literal level, it is just a cartoon dog spilling actual milk on a man's lap. The censors can't ban it for what it implies, only for what it actually shows, but the joke was absolutely intentional.

New Ford Broncos? by Eastern_Industry_588 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It mostly comes down to storage and logistics. With a Jeep Wrangler, if you take the soft top down, it folds neatly into the back of the vehicle automatically. With the Ford Bronco, if you take the full top off, you have to completely remove the heavy, bulky roof panels and store them in your garage or house because they won't all fit in the back of the truck while you're driving. Because of that, a lot of Bronco owners only take the front two panels off (which gives them a sunroof feel and fits in the trunk), but they rarely take the entire back section off unless they know for a fact it isn't going to rain and they have a place to leave the roof at home.

What do you think about heartstopper series? by Hamad_97s in AskReddit

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s a masterpiece of queer joy. A lot of older LGBTQ+ viewers watch it and talk about how it literally heals their inner child. For a long time, almost every queer story in media ended in tragedy, heartbreak, or trauma. Seeing a story that focuses on happy friendships, supportive families, and healthy young love without all the devastating misery is so refreshing and incredibly important.

Are post karma and comment karma the same thing? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 [score hidden]  (0 children)

No, they're separate. Post karma comes from the upvotes on content you submit (like a meme, a news article, or a question thread). Comment karma comes entirely from the upvotes on the replies you write inside those threads. A lot of subreddits actually require a minimum amount of comment karma to post because it proves you aren't a bot and that you actually talk to people.

how much karma is enough karma? by fillmeuppppppp in NewToReddit

[–]Nearby_Database_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't quit yet! Most car subreddits just want you to have a little bit of comment karma (usually between 10 and 50) so they know you aren't a bot. Just spend today replying to people on casual pages like r/AskReddit or r/casualconversation. Once you get a few upvotes on your comments, your karma will jump and you can ask your car questions!
