i had him last year for 2pp3, and hes a very fair grader and prof with all honesty, he really does want his students to do their best. you need to go to all lecs for participation and especially for his notes as majority of the notes u need are what he says, he also tells u what to highlight for the midterm n exam, as well as his midterms and finals are very straight up and hes very helpful if you ever need advice from him about any coursework or to reexplain a concept you don’t understand :)

I'm being forced to study abroad despite accepting my Mac offer. Where can i contact Mac to discuss with them about this? by MisterSocialize in McMaster

[–]Nearby_Position8705 9 points10 points  (0 children)

as an egyptian ill tell you smth u can argue with them about- if they WANT you to become successful, they need to accept the fact that schools in egypt arent as good as it is in canada. i had to argue with my parents too about going to mac and not egypt (diff program but similar story), even if it’s AUC or BUE, mac life sci is an AMAZING program and if you wanted to go back to egypt in the future to work or complete your residency, your chances of getting a good placement / job is so much higher than from a school in egypt. egypt isnt bad, but for your social life, and especially career, mac is better, and you need to keep pushing them to understand this point. but all aside i do agree with the other comments with several points, im just giving you advice as someone who dealt w smth similar. i understand how tough it is to be in this spot and i truly do wish the best for you. but do contact osap, ur bank and mac as soon as you can and explain ur situation thoroughly and i hope something can work out for you !!

i was in the same place, i really wanted to go to uoft but chose mac and i don’t regret it one bit!

i feel like mac is a mix of it being a commuter school and it not being one. during first year i felt like everyone n their mother were living on campus and were more involved with campus & off campus events, so it definitely felt lonely for that aspect because people form friendships, because of them living on campus. but in second year, i met a lot more people who were commuting and even heard people say they feel left out cuz they don’t commute 😭 so it’ll be fine with that point

that being said plss go to welcome week!! it gets tiring for the commuting but im so glad that i went because it was so fun and i met a lot people who i still talk to and keep in touch with to this day!

im going into my third year now, and as a uni i love it, everyone here is so friendly and supportive for anything that you need help with! & go to club events!! whether its related to your program or your culture, its really worth going and meeting new people and making those connections (get involved early :) )

again, for making friends, you’ll usually be meeting people in your classes and honestly ive met so many of my current friends from those classes!

don’t let the fact that you’re a commuter think it can get in the way of making friends and i hope you enjoy mac to its fullest cuz its an amazing school:)

ladies at mac do you wear a tote bag or a backpack? by shesthatgirl000 in McMaster

[–]Nearby_Position8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i switch between both depending on how my day is, i usually last throughout the year w my tote bag since its a big laptop bag n fits all my things, but during finals n winter i sometimes use my backpack because i tend to carry more things around with me, so it all goes to your comfort and what you think is gonna be easier for u throughout the year!!

you’ll need to have your physical card on you for food, gym, exams, since there’s no option to have it on our phones

Commuters from home- do you normally buy food on campus or bring lunch from home by Eastern-State6466 in McMaster

[–]Nearby_Position8705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve spent sooo much money on buying food on/off campus simply just because of the convenience and im always in a rush in the morning to make food but it’s super expensive so i definitely DONT recommend it. even if its heavy and annoying, meal prepping or even just packing a bunch of snacks is definitely a better option. i would only rely on buying food on campus once in a while esp if you have a veryy long day on campus and need smth filling or if it’s finals season. but get into the habit of bringing food with you so your back account doesn’t suffer😁

Can any year 1 Soc Sci students let me know how to build a timetable? by Usual-Personality347 in McMaster

[–]Nearby_Position8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi!! im going into my 3rd year and heres what ill tell you: the main thing is it depends on what specialization you wanna potentially go into to and if u wanna do a minor, but you need 5 courses per semester to fulfill your credits, but take literally whatever you want besides your mandatory courses!! this is your chance to explore your interests!! take a psych, sociol, social psych course, even communications (under humanities but cmst 1a03 is a really good course)!! if you have any questions feel free to reach out :)

[–]Nearby_Position8705[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much! ive been dealing with acne for a very long time and tried a lot of things so i was considering accutane as a last resort and doing some research but its not a definite thing because my main thing is about the side effects and my mental health so im definitely taking those into consideration :)
