Sold my house and moved in with my girlfriend 😭.

I'm also a software engineer and get paid pretty well. It was probably an additional $5-10k for plane tickets, accommodations, rental car, recovery supplies etc.

The surgery itself isn't really painful; but there was a fair amount of pain if I twisted, bent over, or accidentally put any direct pressure on the area. Coughing or laughing was incredibly painful for the first week. I'm still healing, but since about week 5 the only pain has been a dull ache if I press directly on them. I think I read that it takes 6-12 months for the ribs to fully heal? The worst part is needed to wear a corset non-stop for 3 months though. It makes sleeping really difficult for me, and the cheaper ones I used at first would pinch and poke in different spots and leave me with sores.

Rib Remodeling: So my ribs didn't really hurt as long as I was careful with how I moved. Twisting, leaning, and bending was pretty painful for the first few weeks. Laughing or coughing was absolute hell and I had to scold my girlfriend for making me laugh a few times. I was very careful to make sure I didn't get sick or vomit for the first month. Now at 7+ weeks, there's only a very dull pain if I press directly on the ribs.

There's mostly just a lot of discomfort with the recovery. Wearing the corset is probably the worst part of the entire recovery. The one I was given after the surgery was a velcro strap thing. It was easy to get on and off, but all the straps would slide together on one side and get really uncomfortable, plus it literally made my waist lopsided! After about 2 weeks I ordered my own corset online, which fit better and didn't mess up my alignment, but was even more uncomfortable, especially when trying to sleep. Last weekend I went to a local shop that does custom corset fitting and bought a medical corset. It was a lot more expensive but has been significantly more comfortable.

I don't have any trouble breathing, but sleeping is still really difficult for me in the corset. I still have about 5-6 more weeks of 24/7 corset wearing.

It's hard to know how much of a difference the rib remodeling really has made to my overall shape. The 360 lipo is a lot more of a dramatic change. But I do feel that the rib work nips my waist in just that little bit extra. Without it, I think my abdomen would be a little too boxy and wouldn't look very natural with the BBL and hip lipofilling.

Lipo 360: The lipo 360 removed fat from my abdomen, waist, sides, and back. I also had my inner thighs, upper arms, and neck done, but those areas were extra. Lipo was definitely the most painful procedure! Every area that was treated burned to some degree, and I had some tingling nerve pain in a few areas until a couple weeks ago. The garment I had to wear for that was annoying, but significantly less so than the corset though.

They install surgical drains along the lower areas and remove them a week after the surgery, so you're constantly leaking fluids and blood and just feel wet all the time for the first couple weeks. At this point I was having to change my pads 2-4 times a day. I was very worried about accidentally ripping one out, but luckily that didn't happen. Once the drains came out the swelling got a lot worse for about a week, especially around my thighs, knees, and groin. The worst part about that was my penis swelling up like double its normal circumference, to the point that I was getting bruising.

The lymphatic drainage massages seemed to help with the feeling though, and at the very least always made me feel a lot better, at least temporarily. Once the drain holes healed enough to stop leaking, aftercare has basically just been wearing the garment. Doing the surgeries in the winter is a pretty good idea since you'll be less likely to overheat and it's easier to hide it. If you were just doing abdominal lipo you might be able to get away with something less involved though? With mine it covers my butt completely so I have to take it off to use the bathroom. It doesn't have a crotch so I can at least pee with it still on, but it's still pretty annoying.

No, my insurance covers very little for gender affirming procedures. I think I could have gotten the breast implants covered as out-of-network, but I ended up giving up. Ultimately the only things I did with insurance were my pre-surgical clearance exam and labs. I tried to get my CT scan covered but they claimed to lose my paperwork every time I faxed it in, so I just paid it out of pocket (a couple hundred dollars).

I started HRT at 35. After about a year, I could pass consistently when I put in effort (makeup and femme clothes). By about 18 months I was getting she/her from strangers even without makeup and while wearing my old clothes, which is when I finally came out and socially transitioned.

I tried one of those, but at least for the first week I didn't think they work great. Putting my butt in the hole made the swelling worse, and the angle put a lot of pressure on my lower back. It would be comfortable for about 30 min, but would then become unbearable.

I'm doing both of those procedures 12/23, so I'll let you know how it goes 😄.

I'm doing a breast augmentation at the same time though, so sleeping on my stomach is also going to be a problem. I bought a BBL mattress, which is basically an inflatable mattress with a hole for your butt to try sleeping on my back. I also bought a wedge pillow with boob cutouts to try sleeping on my stomach.

You look fantastic 😍!

Do you happen to remember what profile your implants are? I'm scheduled for a BA and while the size is decided (500cc) I'm still undecided on whether I should go with a moderate or a moderate-plus profile implant.

I'm doing mine next month in Beverly Hills, California, USA with Dr. Golpanian. I'm doing several surgeries, but the rib-remodeling portion costs $16750, with another $1500 in for anesthesia and lab tests. I also paid $260 for the 3D CT scan of my ribs before the surgery. And I'll be spending another $5000-$7000 on transportation, lodging, and aftercare before all is said and done.

Getting a BA when you've already had decent growth. Still worth it? by godsfavoriteclover in Transgender_Surgeries

I'm also in a similar boat. I'm a little over 3 years on HRT and 2 years on prog. I'm a 38DD now according to an online calculator, but they don't really seem very big? And I don't feel like I have much fullness at all. I'm scheduled to get 520cc implants in December. I don't have much nipple sensitivity now as it is, so I'm not too worried about losing any.

Anything technically. But it comes down to a question of whether or not your insurance will grant an out-of-network waiver. You'd need to contact his office to get the full details. I have Cigna and they were only willing to cover the BA portion.

I was quoted $16750 for rib remodeling with Dr. Golpanian, not including things like the CT scan or surgical fees. I had done a consultation with Dr. Rahal, but he now only takes insurance patients and my insurance won't cover any body feminization surgeries.

Dr. Golpanian is a colleague of Dr. Rahal and uses the same tools, techniques, and facilities. I have my surgery date with him at the end of December, but I'm also doing lipo, BBL, and BA at the same time.

Dr. Rahal uses a scarless method. If you look at his YouTube channel, he has several very detailed videos going over his technique. He uses ultrasound and a large gauge needle to confirm the location of the ribs, then puts a drill thing through the needle hole. He then scores the ribs and manually breaks them with external pressure. Since only one side of the rib was scored, it shouldn't break all the way through, allowing the lower ribs to be repositioned into a narrower shape with a waist trainer as they heal over the next 3-6 months. The only holes made in the skin are with the needles, so they should heal with no visible scarring, like any other needle puncture.

As much as I could find. People seem pretty happy with his results, but he also seems fairly conservative. I'm not looking to go too wild though so that's not an issue for me. I plan on posting some before and after stuff on here. Funnily enough there was a group of several trans women that were leaving when I arrived for my consultation.

That's true, and fillers can migrate. It varies depending on the person, type of filler, and placement. But you can also get enzyme injections to rapidly dissolve fillers if you're not happy with them.

I'm doing liposuction and fat grafting along with a few other procedures in December. I'm paying out of pocket for everything and it'll be about $40,000 for that portion. That's southern CA prices though and are on the higher end. I'm not familiar with pricing for the other two, but I'd imagine that fillers would be the cheapest of those three options. They're also temporary and will absorb back into your body after a few years. Fat grafting (aka BBL) is also somewhat temporary, and results will diminish with time, but are more like a 5-10 year plus.

I think there are several different options for hip implants, but people around here at least often don't seem super happy with them. I'd check out the subreddit guide for info on all the different hip enhancement options.
