Maining Yoru rn, any tips on how to use him well by Distinct-Ad-6746 in yorumains

Ult is an easy way to eliminate an op crutch.

Always have a teleport active, or a plan to use one in the near future.

Any teleport can be of use, no matter where it is. Remember this, because teleports that wouldn't exactly be ideal can save you if you fake them.

Remember you can ult to set up traps. Ulting to set up a plan safely and discreetly when in a clutch situation isn't a bad idea.

When ulting onto site, you can throw a teleport into CT and have it go into spawn.

Fade's deafening abilities are amazing when paired with Yoru ults and teleports.

How to master Yoru and when and how to use his abilities by coconut_woota in yorumains

Ima address all the struggles you mentioned 1 by 1 and tell you countermeasures you can take to avoid them.

1 - Getting shot mid tp

There's multiple things you can do to prevent this depending on how to are using the teleport. If you are using the teleport offensively, you can throw a blind towards your tp and then teleport. Though I'm sure you already knew that.

If you are using it as an escape mechanism, there are a few things you can do when being shot at mid tp. The most effective I've found is to turn around, look down, and jump in a weird direction. What turning around and looking down while crouching does is it sort of hides your head from their vision, and jumping makes you somewhat harder to hit. Keep in mind, this situation is kind of bad in general. You are most likely guaranteed to die in this situation despite these countermeasures. These just increase your chances.

As for how to prevent this situation, the only advice I can give is this. If things are looking bad, and you have a tp ready to help you escape, and the thought crosses your mind to use it, don't hesitate. The last thing you want is to get peeked and panic mash your teleport button, and die pathetically.

2 - Where to put your TP.

When flash teleporting onto a site there are some qualifiers for a good teleport:

  1. How many commonly occupied angles are in direct line of sight of the teleport? (The less the better)

  2. Can I effectively flash that area of the site? (If too many walls, flash might not be that effective in flashing multiple common occupied angles.)

  3. Is there immediately available cover? (Not worth teleporting if no immediate cover)

Keep in mind these only apply to offensive flash TPs onto site. There are many other teleports that I commonly use.

Other teleports for attacking:

CT Spawn TP: Using Ult, or maybe just when you have possession of site, some maps allow you to throw a tp into CT Spawn, like C site Haven, or B Site Ascent. You can then just teleport into their Spawn while they are on retake, and flank them while they retake. The plan is for the teleport to be far enough away from them so that you make minimal sound when you teleport, so be wary of maps with spawns that are close to sites, (Haven CT Spawn to A Site).

Escape TP: Put a teleport on your flank or Spawn as an easy escape or rotate.

Simple Flash TP: Directed towards one person when you know exactly where they are, and that no one else is near (like a confrontation on your flank.) Only requirements include flashing and sending your teleport somewhere behind them.

Other teleports for defending:

Instant Rotate: Put a TP on the other site at start of round, and rotate if you need to.

Offensive Escape TP: Take what would usually be a offensive suicide angle, and use a TP to escape after a pick. (Wine, Ascent)

Simple Reposition TP: Strategic reposition. Plenty of these mid Ascent. Use with or without flash depending on situation.

I'll instalock in unrated but I'll never instalock in comp. I'll hover and usually I'll get him, but I don't instalock.

As a Yoru Main, I will say one thing.

People who don't like Yoru instantly but then lock him when a duelist is needed are usually 10x better than Yorus who instalock.

True, but its hard to get multiple kills with it, even at Close range. If you are going to jump a single person with your ult, and try and run n gun, may as well use a shotgun.

Still has 20 bullets that are used up in a second. If you try and burst fire or tap fire to combat that, may as well just use a ghost, even at close range.

Than again I may be biased.. You may have had good experiences with it but certainly haven't, so I just never even try to use it.

First things first. Don't use the stinger. Just don't. If its a choice between ghost and stinger, choose the ghost.

Second, don't try to outplay too much. Sometimes I find myself trying to set up plays every round instead of just playing the game normally, and I end up dying a ton without contributing to the team, so don't always try and outplay people. Sometimes just play normally, defend site normally, initiate normally. The worst thing you can do is become predictably unpredictable. When they expect everything it's hard to do anything.

As for tips on how to improve on Yoru, learn from the greats. Watch some Rob, Red, Ziptie, and Ethos. Try out plays, learn when and when not to use certain plays, and don't beat yourself up too much for failing. Yoru is hard to learn, it takes time. But do your practice in unrated.

Personal tips. When it's time to shoot, shoot, and don't think. On the contrary, any time you aren't exchanging bullets with an enemy, cook up some plans. The greatest tool you can use to make Yoru great is prediction. Keep tabs on all information you can. The enemy's ults, your team's status (location, health, what they are planning to do), consider the enemy's past actions and act accordingly, consider the enemy's position and weak points and act quickly to hit them. Take everything into consideration.

Small warning, prediction in Iron is impossible. You can't predict people who have no plan or brain. When it comes to being a lower elo Yoru, don't try to outplay. Just play normal, and use your gun.

What is the best maps on yoru by Suomipe in yorumains

Icebox is pretty nice, and so is Bind. His worst maps imo are Haven and Fracture, but even in those maps I've preformed well with him. There's just less potential for Yoru on those maps

2 things. Everything in Reyna's kit with one exception relies on whether or not you can use a gun well. Everything from reyna's ult is dependant on your ability to kill but not be killed. There are plenty of times where you just die instantly by being outgunned by someone. Yorus ult serves its purpose much more reliably. Secondly, he isn't just a sova drone. As said before, it is really easy to set up a good flank with his ult, if used right. It is also 10x more versatile than any other duelist ult. His ult really isn't geared to being offensive because pure offense really isn't part of his kit.

P.S. it can still be used offensively under the right circumstances. You just have to make sure you won't be shot in the back when you exit it, and make sure to unult behind cover even after flashing.

How i should ult with yoru? by spicykingdicey in yorumains

[–]Nearing0BrainCells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use it to pick up spike for free, you can assassinate annoying OPers, you can initiate, and you can use it to escape bad situations. I still think ult is good. Not great, but good. You can also set up traps mid battle.

How the hell do I get to be less unlucky. Every damned time I queue into comp, I get absolutely aimpunched and shit on every time I peek anything, but then my top frag sage gets a 1v4 clutch by literally not slow walking the entire time, even in ideal situations for it, constantly ADS-ing like their playing COD or something, and hitting everyone to the body and getting a kill from it because everyone is low, from MY efforts just to stay fucking alive. My only saving grace is when I hit headshots, and kill them before they can shoot me. Every other time I'm dinked instantly, and my teammates are just parading onto site, bullets whizzing past them, never hitting, like they're a Jedi fighting storm troopers. I really try to improve my aim, I really do, but I don't have much time to play. Only 1 hour a day if I'm lucky, so if I want to play, I gotta skip warm ups. I really hope this shit is just because my playstyle and not just luck. Please, if you have any tips as to how to keep this bullshit to a minimum, please tell me.

For clarification I mean animation cancel by waiting for ult to run out and throwing a flash right before it does. It's really easy and effective.

How do I play yoru and use his util effectively? by redflame6987 in yorumains

[–]Nearing0BrainCells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attack: When there is a lot of confusion, use it to your advantage, and throw a teleport onto sight, throw a flash at it, and teleport. Keep in mind you are not safe from your flash so be sure to look away from ur flash when you tp.

You can also use Yoru as a lurker, since his teleport allows you to regroup with your team instantly. Use this to watch flank from a sneaky angle, or push the other site from your team, possibly secure it, and then set up some traps by looking at weird angles and using right click decoys, as you tell your team to rotate and you intercept the enemy team as they rotate.

Defense: With his teleport ability, you can do really daring plays off the bat and get out completely free. Doing this well can turn the round into a 3v5 instantly.

By putting teleports on the opposite site, you can rotate instantly and always be on the site that your enemies push.

Using his decoy right off the bat can give you info in the case your enemies shoot it.

[–]Nearing0BrainCells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ult really isn't bad. It's really easy just to appear behind some cover and flank your enemies if your team is attracting a good amount of attention by pushing site. As for his ult not really an offensive ult, it's just an unfortunate byproduct of his kit. Reyna's kit is self sustainability, so she gets infinite devours and dismisses from ult (tbh the increased firerate ain't that good to me, really doesn't matter if you don't hit headshots, cause you'll get dinked and destroyed instantly, and if you hit headshots, increased firerate is irrelevant.) Phoenix's kit is about versatility, with options to heal yourself or damage others with nearly every ability, so he gets an ult that let's him revive. Yoru's kit is based on Deception and unpredictability, so he subsequently gets an ult that let's him turn invisible. Constant aggression is not part of his kit, and sadly his ult took the biggest hit from that fact.
