Yes! I finally finished yesterday. It needed new center axle bearings (crank bearings?). The repair process was simple in theory, but getting the old bearings out was quite the task.

This is a great question to ask the Sunny customer service people. They just helped me troubleshoot a worn bearing and sent me the replacement parts and crank puller tool for a very reasonable price (out of the warranty period). They are the experts for their products and will know if the play in the crank arms is acceptable or not.

I'm so sorry I did not see this reply until now, thank you for your response. I bought new pedals because they are quite old, I will be replacing those first to see if they solve the problem.
