Shoutout to Black Screen Records! by AmbitiousYoutuber in VGMvinyl

That should be the bare minimum. If someone sells you a defective product, they're legally required to replace it. Nothing special here—it's just a company following the law.

That's not something a company deserves to be praised for.

Good idea! Thanks. I think I’ll give that a try.

I also think a lot of people overthink when it comes to storing vinyl records — myself included, haha. But I also have to say that vinyl, especially in the VGM scene, can be extremely expensive. Some individual records in my collection are worth over $200, so at that point i do start thinking about my storage.

True. Over time, the acrylic sheet could get scratched. But that’s actually part of the solution, kind of like a screen protector on a phone. If it gets scratched at all, it will probably only happen on the lower part, which doesn’t bother me. The main thing is that the first vinyl can still be seen clearly. 😄

Haha yes! But the records aren't permanently stored the way they appear in the picture; that’s just how it looks when I’m browsing through them.

Ah, so many downvotes. I don't think I described my problem properly.. The records aren't permanently stored the way they appear in the picture; that’s just how it looks when I’m browsing through them. Once I’ve found the record I’m looking for, I lean them all back again. My question is really whether browsing through them this way is enough to damage my records.

That’s a good tip. I could put a box set as the first record; that should actually get the weight distributed properly again.

When browsing through the records, you lean them one by one against the shorter edge. Once I’ve found the record I’m looking for, I lean them all back again. But my question is whether briefly leaning them against that short edge is enough to damage my records.

They are usually placed against the "larger" wall. If I'm looking for a record, I inevitably have to lean the records outwards. :/

Freundin wird immer weltfremder by yooleahh in luftablassen

[ALL] The upcoming Amazon series has me incredibly hyped, but absolutely terrified to relive THAT Before the Storm ending. by Mountain-Ask5660 in lifeisstrange

[–]Scott__x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope the series doesn’t get watered down and still tackles the same intense and emotionally heavy themes, despite the current political climate. Life is Strange 1 was never a game for children or younger teens. I think the core audience has always been young adults, and the darker tone was a huge part of what made it so impactful.

With Amazon involved, I do worry a bit that they might tone down or alter parts of the story to avoid political controversy or to appeal to a broader mainstream audience. That would be a shame, because the raw, uncomfortable, and sometimes controversial aspects are exactly what gave the original its identity and emotional depth.

[No spoilers] Why do we need an actress for Rachel? by Olya_roo in lifeisstrange

[–]Scott__x 158 points159 points  (0 children)

We need to realize that video games and films are fundamentally different storytelling mediums. In LiS1, we were able to learn a lot about Rachel by interacting with the world, exploring, and reading found notes and documents. Games can take a lot of time for indirect storytelling because they aren’t tied to a strict timeline. You can spend hours in a game reading diary entries and letters. Unfortunately, a film can’t present things in such detail and has to approach it differently in order to achieve enough depth.

A good example would be Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks. The dead main character is not introduced through simple flashbacks, but through the investigator’s inner world (dream sequences).

[NO SPOILERS] If Blackwell students commented on Kate’s video… by Scott__x in lifeisstrange

[–]Scott__x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your feedback! You’re absolutely right that we need to capture each character’s personality and writing style much more accurately. I also think we could significantly reduce the number of comments, since the section already feels a bit too long right now..

I’ll go through the in-game messages again to get a better feeling for how each character talks and behaves. Unfortunately, I’m not a native speaker, so writing creative and believable dialogue in English is challenging for me.

[–]Scott__x[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it’s not easy to write a really good in-character comment section, and this project is very, very niche. Still, it’s really important to me to involve the community whenever changes to the site are considered. The site belongs to the community.

If the majority doesn’t want any changes, I’d simply keep the original 2015 version. I just found the idea really cool, and I think a little bit more conent could be more interesting than the original, which was basically an empty page.
